EA: Worst company in video games? Maybe. Worst company in America? No.

Stevo writes: "In case you've hidden away from the Internet in the last week EA has been voted, again, "Worst Company in America" by The Consumerist readers, beating out Bank of America with 78% of the votes. Sure, EA have made mistakes (SimCity anyone?) but there are definitely companies in the United States that have more than ruin the launch of a game." (Culture, EA, Industry)

Quality of games definitely no!
Money grubbing very much so but they are a big company and need to make. Profit but they need to find a better way cause it will hurt them as well as consumers soon.

Rare are quite bad atm and it pains me to say it but its all microsofts fault.

Naughty dog are the worst for making me part with my money for their fantastic games. ;)

I completely agree with this article. EA may suck at being a video game publisher but, at the end of the day thats all they are "a video game publisher". Sure their DRM policy sucks, yeah they nickle and dime you for everything, and the sim city launch was a debacle but, can we honestly say that companies like activision (vita black ops by nihilistic), and capcom ( i know their not american but no one else charges $5 for alternate clothing dlc or scales games back just to sell you the complete version as on disc dlc). Last time I checked bank of america tricked people into losing their homes and AIG the company that WE bailed out from potential bankruptcy is now considering suing the government because they didnt like the stipulations of the loan ( a loan that they took anyway because they would have collapsed if they didnt).

There are something VERY wrong with people in those days ...
I can't believe they let "win" a company that make video over a company that can really ruin your entire life.

Maybe those people are just starting to mix reality with videogame ...

yea i agree, i mean i hate ea,theyre up their with capcom and activision, but they are in no way worse than walmart and Tmobile
Letros  +   536d ago
Wow they beat out Bank of America, that is not easily done.

When the American populous is this streamline retarded, and when our kid's heroes are on a show called Jersey Shore. This is all but surprising. Only the average dimwit with the support of other average dimwits would have no problem calling a video game publishing company "worse" than Bank of America and mean it. I hate some of EA's practices as well, but to call them worse than Bank of America, really says something sad about our country.

Does video games have a razzy award or something similar?
Not sure if they do or not & what it may be called..
But yeah, that's what EA deserves, worldwide.

X-Play used to have the Golden Mullet Awards. Pretty funny. I miss G4...

78% of the people that voted in that poll are absolute fucking idiots.

Those kids should get out of the basement and go live in the real world for a while. They'll quickly learn that EA isn't even on the radar when it comes to immoral business practices and anti-consumer behaviour.

Couldn't have said it better.

It's hard to understand when you're getting an allowance. They'll start to get it somewhere around 23 or 24 when some bank raises their interest rate to 9% or more on a school loan.

worst videogame company by far is activision. ea is better than activision. They gave us dead space 1+2 ( 3 was meh because of the new direction, mass effect, fifa, battlefield ect.
D_RoyJenkins  +   536d ago
They're not even the worst company in gaming, that's Activision
Number-Nine  +   536d ago
Who cares? Some people are taking it way too seriously. So what if there are other companies worse than EA. I think this is funny and shows you how many people EA pissed off.

I thought Activision took that crown from them
Good_Guy_Jamal  +   536d ago
Lets see who brings us more gaming woes.
Online pass: EA
Day 1 DLC: EA
Forced Origin: EA
Microtransactions in almost every new game: EA
Shutting down of servers for 2 year old games: EA
Buying great Studios and shutting them down: EA
SimCity DRM: EA
Milking and killing of franchises: Activision
Horrible Licenced game cash ins: Activision

Feel free to add in anything else you can think of on Activision's side but that's pretty much all I could think of.

I assume the worst company in America has to be American? Worst in Video games goes to Capcom imo.
StreetsofRage  +   536d ago
People nowadays just complain too much. I buy Madden and Fifa every year with a bunch of friends and we never complain. We still have city wide tournaments with zero complaints.
grimmweisse  +   536d ago
Worst company in the video game industry, definitely yes. But worst company compared to other corporations, definitely no!
