Can DualShock 3 support in Xperia phones help boost up PlayStation Mobile?

Sony wants to compete in the mobile gaming world right alongside Apple and others, as it continues to push for a third front in its video game business. In 2012, Sony launched PlayStation Mobile, a new service that attempts to cross the PS Vita, its Xperia smartphones, and other Android mobile devices made by ASUS, HTC and others. Sony extended a hand to indie developers to bring them on board, but to date, PlayStation Mobile has remained a low priority for the company.

Sony made one significant change to its mobile gaming operations on Wednesday. As noted by the Xperia Blog, the new Xperia SP smartphone will actually let users play games using the PlayStation 3’s DualShock 3 controller in addition to the device’s touch screen. That means that an indie developers that want to include traditional control mechanisms in their PlayStation Mobile devices can do so. There may even be an opportunity for Cross Play functionality for PS Mobile games between Xperia and the PlayStation 3 it... (Android, Mobile, PlayStation Mobile, Sony, Tech)

IMO, yes it can, also when the PS4 comes out I am sure that the social aspects could tie into the PS mobile platforms
All they need is gaikai and a phone/projector with ds4 support.
Then play on a wall.

I don't see the point and I don't see this being the thing to help with sales. Sony's Xperia ZL and Z are both awesome phones that can sale themselfs.

LOL. I don't think you quite understand the business model. These services are NOT to help sell the more phones, the phones are there to sell these services. I'm sure you're not alone in that opinion though. I know of many people who actually believe games are there to sell consoles ... *even now I hear the rumbling of confusion*
