PCGamer- Defiance Review

PCG:Around a dozen hours into my time with Defiance, I realised that I was having fun. Not the kind of fun that warrants an unreserved recommendation, but I had acclimated to the vagaries of Trion’s sci-fi MMO shooter in such a way that I was getting something out of it. My early impressions, however, were not good. When I started playing, I scooted around on a quadbike and blasted mutants and noticed all of the game’s faults. (Defiance, PC, PS3, Xbox 360) 62/100

I really don't understand....

I have personally not seen one positive review of this game, and yet I absolutely love it.

Idk if it's because I had my expectations in check going in, but it's what I wanted from this game.

For MY sixty dollars, what comes 'in the box' is more than enough.

Considering that it's an mmo, and that I don't feel pressured to purchase ANY extra items?

Imo it is a steal.

I have been having a lot of fun with this game.

I do not understand all of the criticism when it comes to this game. (no disrespect to the author)

I'm with you. I'm confused by all the negativity, with the exception of the technical problems, but Trion seems to be on top of it so far. As far as included content is concerned I'm more than happy with what I bought, and their policy of all DLC having major free components has me very excited.

I was in serious doubt until I hit about 4hrs in. Then I was hooked. Even though in any other game I'd slag it for bad graphics, glitchy launch (now stable), mic glitch out, etc

But can't hate when I'm rolling with my posse to the next arkfall. Lots of fun in this game.

Yes! It is a very social experience.

I love rushing to an arkrall and seeing thirty other players already engaging the enemy.
Idk if it's because I am so burned out on this "I'm so better than you" competitive, but when I died it felt so good to be revived by a stranger.

Idk. He/she was playing and saw a stranger in need and left themselves open to attack to help me out.

After the Arkfall we all went our separate ways, doing our own missions.

I'm glad to see somebody else who is enjoying this game!

I've only played the beta and found it very buggy and a bit "meh". Can you tell me if/how the actual retail version holds up? I still had some fun out of the beta and if it's improved then I may pick this game up.

I don't get the negativity either. I didn't care one way or another about the game, until my brother got it. Now I'm low key hooked. I can't fathom how this game is getting low scores when higher profile titles get praised for having the same problems.

im at around 45 hours and still really liking the game. the further you go the better it gets and more and more cool stuff is everywhere. gets really fun after you find more varied enemies i thought
