Top 7 Great Game Moments When "That" Song Kicks In

"There are many games with great soundtracks, and sometimes those soundtracks are present throughout the whole game. Hotline Miami. Dustforce. Bioshock Infinite. Ducktales. Journey. From retro to modern, some of the best music in the world has featured in games. But sometimes, a game features a moment when “that” songs kicks in. The song that perfectly complements the events in the game. That perfectly fits the tone of the moment. That makes you notice just how amazing a job the soundtrack is doing in immersing you in the game world.

Everyone will have their own choices for this list. Yours will be very different from mine. Why not tell me about yours in the comments below? For now though, here are my 5 musical moments where I felt unrestrained elation as “that” song kicked in.", says CalmDownTom (BioShock: Infinite, Culture, Max Payne 3 , PC, PS3, Red Dead Redemption, Retro, Silent Hill 2, Xbox 360)

* Borderlands 1 opening

* Ocarina of Time - Ever time you hear a song for the first time...all the melodies in the game give me goosebumps.

* Mario64 - Dire Dire Docks - I just sat there and listened to the song for 5 min before I even played the level. It's beautiful and really sets the mood for this game. It makes you feel as those you were really exploring and searching for something.

* MegaMan 3 - That Opening music makes you realize you are in for a special game. I'm not even a huge megeman fan but this game is awesome.

* Punchout - When you are running in the pink jumpsuit following Mac on his bike through the city...such a cool song and feeling

Playing snowboard kids for the first time was a real treat back in the day. I wasn't expecting the soundtrack to be that catchy and it really set the mood for the entire game of fun.

RDR is the first one that leaps to mind for me. I played through the story again specifically to create a save right before that moment.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, after you complete the Virtuous Mission, the game really starts.

"what a thrill..."

Love that song, and the timing was so well done. 2nd time on that ladder, same thing.

I love the Read Dead Redemption soundtrack, especially that track.

Probably one of my earliest "Music in games" memory is the intro to Gran Turismo 2, The Cardigans "My favourite game." Perfect as that game WAS my favourite game for a very long time.

Definitely agree with Max Payne and Red Dead. Some of my personal choices are Journey (hard to name one specific moment), Twisted Metal 2(the main theme), Heavy Rain (the main theme, and oblivion (the wilderness theme).
