Dark Souls 2: Everything That's New & Changed

One thing that hasn't changed is the fact that I love this series and I can't wait to buy/play it.

"To make the game slightly more accessible for newcomers, there will be healing items that allow players to regenerate their health. These healing items do not replace estus flasks, which will see a return.

You will be able to heal while on the move, so you won't have to stop for a break.

There are now torches, which act as light sources for the character by illuminating the area around you. No longer will you have to crawl around in the dark.

The game will see the addition of single-use keymouth stones which can be used in various parts of the game. They can serve to make the game easier by lighting up dark areas."

this is what i was afraid of :(

these things seem like it's going to make the game too easy (in the context of the souls games). demons souls did have grasses, but you needed to keep your distance when using them in combat, or you waited until you've cleared the enemies if you survived.

crawling around in the dark made it a lot better, frankly... keeping you on your toes, and forcing you to take your time is the whole point. i think getting rid of that constant fear of an enemy ambushing you because you weren't careful just defeats the purpose.

I imagine there is a trade off for using the keymouths (This is Dark Souls!). Regenerating health is a concern, hope the items are balanced, especially for multiplayer.

yeah but you could also farm the grass and have tooooons of it. also you could light areas of the game with a spell, i imagine the torches are prob just for those more interested in melee. i watched the video on ign which he said soemthign about the keymouths being limited and the player would have to choose carefully. they also added more attacks to the enemies it looks like so its not as easy to backstab and some will break through walls in pursuit.

from isnt exactly known for catering to the masses so while they will make some adjustments and maybe even the game does get slightly easier, i wouldnt worry about a COD treatment by from software, they jsut dont make games like that. i play almost all of their titles because they are my fav dev, they rarely let me down

Just read the article and like helghast102 said below, it's just filled with assumptions THAT WERE NOT CONFIRMED BY THE DEVELOPERS THEMSELVES. The character in the demo was obviously overlevelled so there is no reason for us not to believe that the availability of those "healing stones" will be the same as Divine Blessings in Dark Souls rather than grasses in Demon's Souls.

How is a touch making things easy? You can't block effectively and see well in dark areas. It actually makes things harder since switching it out puts the flam out.

Go to tomb of giants and try blocking with the skull lantern to see what I mean.

And yes I know theres other light sources just do it this way to see how it feels.
