Bioshock: Infinite Review | Console ControllUs

Over the past several years 2K games has made a name for itself with its top-notch games and great investment in details. A few years back a game called Bioshock bursts onto the scene making big boast of brilliant graphics and awesome story. It fulfilled those promises and gave new breath to the first person shooter genre. A few years later it followed up with a solid sequel in Bioshock 2. While not as dominant in story as its predecessor the game still brought a lot of fresh plot twists and gameplay to the table. Now it’s 2013 and Bioshock: Infinite has landed on PC, PS3, and 360.

The question is: Is this game worth your time and hard earned money? The answers shall be revealed. (BioShock: Infinite, PC, PS3, Xbox 360) 7.0/10

I disagree, the game wasn't great at all. The combat was very basic and repetitive.

Perfect. I have been looking for a comment like this. I understand that Bioshock is a niche game and that it will not be for everyone. That being said, quality alone deserves a 9...maybe an 8.5 if u went to sleep before writing the review and songbird molested u in ur dreams. It is the most beautiful realized setting ever crafted (there r many great ones but no one can deny top 5 or 10 of all time). Second, the music is perfect...tonal and my only regret is that they didn't play american beast while u fought the last fight.

Now, on to the combat. Actually first a nod goes out to Elizabeth's AI...simply astonishing. Yes, the enemy AI wasn't perfect and the enemy types in the original and 2nd (foot soldiers) were a little more complex. But, to me, the different main enemies makes up for it. Now,I know aa lot of ppl didn't like combat but I don't understand. What other fps allows fighting like this. The ability to use all types of weapons while usinh any or all vigors on the fly. I do miss some of the strategy. Play it on 1999 and u get more of this. I would hav loved it if Elizabeth could have seen ahead to certain battles that let u set up...but its fine. My gripe isn't that its the best combat out there...B2 was the best in the series. My problem is that if the above avaverage combat (made better by so many choices) is the reason to give an otherwise flawless game a low score, I ask, what other fps games hav combat that is even this good. Anyway, I believe the combat did suffer from initial attempts to involve Elizabeth much more. They ran out of time or tech to get it done and this is the final product.

For me, I simply love what they were able to accomplish and what they couldn't may get done on next gen systems. While it isn't flawless, I give it a 9.8 b/c I find myself comparing it to itself or another Bioshock. Its just so damn realized, with one of the best stories ever crafted. Thank you to Irratiinal for pushing the boundaries. I realize that time wasn't on ur side with next gen systems arriving soon. And while u may not have been able to accomplish everything u wanted, what u did do is in many ways beyond all else.
