Defiance video review - CramG

A look at Trion World's MMO on consoles. The question is asked, does this ambitious game work? (Defiance, PC, PS3, Xbox 360) 7/10

I'd give it a 9/10. There's nothing really like it on consoles. And it's very well executed. The first weekend it had server issues with framerate drops and dropouts, but much of that has been solved since.

Judging from the video it looks like the reviewer hasn't played it for more than an hour (only 54 Ego points) and I didn't really "get it" until a bit further in when you get better weapons and vehicles, and the missions become more immersive. Saying it looks bad isn't really fair when looking at the size of the game. For an MMO game it looks really good.

Also, playing with a group of other players brings another dimension to the gameplay than roaming around lone wolf style. The review didn't show the isolated 4-player co-op missions, pvp maps or shadow war, of which the co-op maps are really entertaining and can be played more than once.

As I said, if you like MMO's you should give it a try. I have a feeling many reviewers will not give it enough time to fully understand it, and end up comparing it to Gears of War etc.

2:19 in and 83 points is clearly displayed which somewhat negates everything you said because you didnt watch the video fully. Pot calling the kettle black.

56 or 83 doesn't matter. It still means the reviewer barely scratched the surface of the game. It takes around 2 hours to gather those points.
