Aliens: Colonial Marines: 5 Reasons The Wii U Is Better Off Without It

"Aliens: Colonial Marines is a bad game. There really is no way around it. It failed to live up to its hype. By staggering the launch of the game though, Aliens: Colonial Marines could have gotten more polish to go with its Wii U release." Explosion.com

Reasons 1-5: Everyone already knows this game is bad. Some graphical updates and added touch controls can't fix a game that's fundamentally terrible.

You don't need 5 reasons, game simply sucks, Wii-U guys avoided a huge pile of crap called game...

The problem with this thinking and the article is to assume it was made by the same people and exactly the same.

The gfx were supposed to be the best version, and had gameplay elements that were closer to the trailer.

Thus it probably would have still sucked, you know by still having the same story, but certain aspects were going to be better then the other versions.

Still I see why it was cancelled. I mean it would be like having a Tourist plane company called Bin Laden's.

The only thing 100% confirmed is that the graphics were better. We don't know if the gameplay was any different, and I can assure you they didn't change the story. Even with the improvements, it still wouldn't be a game that would justify the money to port it.

People wanted the game on the Wii U before they knew it was bad, but now that they know its not up to standards, they don't care for it. And say the Wii U off is better with it.

The Wii U needed the game, good or bad. It would have still been considered a selling point for the console. Because that is one more game added to the Wii U roster. No console has all 85+ metacritic scored games.

^ This right here.

It's the same thing over and over again with these guys. Just like when a 3rd party game is not making its way towards the Wii U they go on and make such foolish statements such as "oh who cares we have Mario, Zelda and whatnot" and my personal favorite "Nintendo hasn't had 3rd party support since the SNES days".

It's the mentality of those people who are to blame for Nintendo's inadequacies. ;)

While Aliens may be better off not coming to the Wii U, Nintendo needs to show that their system has support, not the lack thereof. Sure, it saved Wii U owners from playing a true piece of $hit, but it still would be another game added to the Wii U library.

With the Wii U not getting games like GTAV or Battlefield 4, having other games cancelled is a troubling sign for future Wii U releases.

Thank god I bought the system for the first party games. I will most likely go PS4 for the big name multiplats and Sony exclusives.

jmc88884024d ago (Edited 4024d ago )

I bought it for 1st party and some 3rd party uses, like for the Aliens:CM usage.

But I have a GTX 670 in my PC so I was never buying it as my 'power machine'. But even then I do defend its power because it does have a significant amount.

EA is screwing over Nintendo, but you know what I wouldn't be surprised if this changes. Still time to and a new CEO might not be so crappy to Nintendo, especially considering it was EA's pig headedness that every gamer and Nintendo has been dealing with.

I think it has more to do with the install base, and that this will ease as time goes on.

It does show you how many idiots run corporations, because this sort of things happens with EVERY new console. Much lower sales because you aren't selling to 50-100 million console market, but 1-5 million.

That they didn't figure this out, and then did, and tucked tail and ran, shows me that a bunch of monkeys with dart boards could run these companies better.

Roundtable: Games That Should Have Received a Sequel

Too many games aren't given a second shot. We at VGU choose which games we would love to see receive a sequel.

The Saboteur - criminally underrated and a fantastic mechanic of bringing colour back to Nazi-occupied Paris.

The article lists Bulletstorm, Sleeping Dogs, and Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Can't argue with any of those really, but I would add Resident Evil Operation Racoon City and Metal Gear Survive to that list. Both terrible games from good franchises.

Bulletstorm, I actually liked the gameplay but the atrocious writing and characters made me despise the game by the end of it.

I still play AvP on PS3 to this day. That game had fun multiplayer too.
