John Bedford (Modojo): A legendary arcade fighting series is probably the last source of inspiration you'd look for when building a card-battler, but given the explosive popularity of the genre over the last 12 months it's no real surprise to see every publisher rummaging through the back-catalog to find something - anything - that can be mined for one of mobile gaming's most enduring crazes. Next up for the deck-building treatment is Namco's Tekken franchise, and the end result is Tekken Card Tournament.
Bandai Namco and FabZat are set to launch trading cards for the Tekken Card Tournament mobile game.
The world of gaming is becoming more and more about established franchises, and the bigger its longevity the more followers it attracts along its way. Tekken is probably one of the biggest franchises in gaming history and present, and future of course with the upcoming release of Tekken 7, due in a month on arcades, ready to steal the show everywhere. Tekken is not only about button supremacy anymore now though, since it is now also in card form.
At the onset, it is quite intriguing to know how one could actually pull-off a mobile-app game riding out the gaming world with the name “Tekken” with it. Simply because, Tekken has successfully branded itself to become one of the biggest names in the gaming industry–a name every gamer out there surely recognizes and knows for a fact. So if that is the case, what is there not to love about Tekken: Card Tournament?
