Pachter says he would, “never question Nintendo’s software strategy”

Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the worst analyst of them all? All signs point to Michael Pachter, as he’s at it again with his Wii U flip-flopping. Pachter has been notoriously hard on Nintendo in particular when it comes to analyzing the company’s strategies; he’s gone from stating he thinks the Wii U will be sold out during the holiday season and when that didn’t happen, he stated the Wii U was a failure. It has lead to a lot grief for Nintendo fans, as many try and reason that the Wii U is not next-gen and not capable of playing next-gen games. (Industry, Michael Pachter, Nintendo, Wii U)

Why would you? The Top 15 selling games of all time belong to Nintendo consoles / handhelds.

Nintendo knows software, but unfortunately I have to say that they don't always understand the hardware side of it.

Regardless, they have their place in this world rightfully so.

Like with a Halo release, Nintendo software have a particularly high bar of quality. If they didn't, you wouldn't have people trashing the console and saying it would be better if Nintendo went third party.

Don't they also have the 1st and 3rd best selling hardware of all time as well?

Nintendo's hardware has only ever been an issue for graphics whores, and that only since the Wii. The GC actually had the best graphics capabilities of its gen.
http://z10.invisionfree.com... And the N64 has it for its gen.

That is also where Nintendo took the hardest fall in market share. Fact is that Nintendo has learned what hardware is "really about" from those mistakes. They know from experience that just pushing highest specs doesn't win the race.

2nd and 3rd; PS2 is still no. 1.

The DS came dangerously close though--

And Nintendo know how to make great looking games on weak hardware. I wonder what they can do with an HD console game seeing how great they can make an SD game look great for example Super Mario Galaxy.

@Moncole

A SD game like Super Mario Galaxy already looks amazing. You can have the most powerful console but not use its full potential. It's all about the games. Don't want to sound like a Nintendo fanboy but I've never played a Nintendo IP and be like "eh this game plays like the last Mario" or "this x is the same as y". Can't say that about many games published by MS or Sony IMO.

Hard to say who won out of the PS2 and DS.. according to VGChartz (which is taken with a grain of salt) the DS has the outright lead. I don't think they will ever be able to prove it though, so the best they can say is it's a tie.

Nintendo will deliver, all the way to the bank. If you deny that, then you are too young to understand the power of:

1. Mario Land
2. Zelda
3. Mario Kart
4. Smash Bros

Prepare to have your inner child mind-raped.

Why you got dislikes for that comment I will never understand. :\
DA_SHREDDER  +   740d ago
Nintendo games in HD. Nuff said. Good choice of words Mr. Patcher, even though i know you probably wont see this comment.
Godmars290  +   741d ago
But given how they failed to attract 3rd parties, which is very much apart of "their" software strategy, you have to question it.
gamer42  +   740d ago
he means software strategy as in making their own games not as in getting games on the console.
Godmars290  +   740d ago
Well, I meant getting on the console. wouldn't have commented at all otherwise.
malokevi  +   740d ago
I can't for the life of me begin to understand why you had to emphasize "their".

its like... "those SCOUNDRELS over there!!"

lol

Pachter, you're a JOKE and as I speak Nintendo World Order agents are closing in to take you out once and for all.

At the end of the day...analyst equals just another self appointed jerk with opinions. And that's all they are...just opinions.
sjaakiejj  +   740d ago
Pachter stated that the Wii-U would sell out over the holiday but that the hype would quickly die out and the console would ultimately be a failure, losing a lot of third party support in the process [1], which so far has been proven true [2][3][4]

Furthermore, he only ever criticized Nintendo's hardware strategy, never their software. He hasn't flip-flopped about the Wii-U, you just haven't been paying attention.

Well said.+1 ;)

It's the diehards and the guys at wiiudaily.com who are to blame for all flip flopping not Patcher. Their inability to look past the fanboyism won't let them see that the man is right.
lilbroRx  +   740d ago
Fanboys are the only people who support Patcher's constant hypocrisy and inaccuracy, and they do it out of pure fanboyism combined with Nintendo hate.

"Mirror mirror on the wall, who’s the worst analyst of them all?"

Does the author of this article turn to Pachter for investment advice? Or is he just butthurt that he says Nintendo is struggling?

Pachter is actually a great analyst. Nintendo stock continues to fall and he is simply telling investors to not, you know, INVEST!

Even after all the negativity I have seen towards the Wii U, I still want to buy one. Nintendo is slow but knows how to make fun games.
