Jimquisition: Why An Always-On DRM Console Would Be Dumb Dumb Dumb

"Just talking about an "always-on" Xbox is a really dumb idea."

"Hopefully not even Microsoft would be so stupid, but just in case any of the platform holders are seriously considering this awful, nasty little idea, let Jimquisition lay out the many good reasons as to why an always-on console would be utterly ludicrous. Seriously, it's ... it's terrible. Deal with it!" (Culture, Industry, Microsoft)

This the thing with always online console. No matter how fast or how stable your network is it will always, ALWAYS screw up and disconnect you, Internet is not perfect, nobodies is.

Now I'm online half the time fine with little to no interruptions just about each night but out of no where I will get disconnected and have to restart my router. Sometimes its down for "3 minutes", 3 seconds or 3 hours. Doesn't matter, its down for a random amount of time and I, as well as nobody else is in control of that.

Point is everyone's internet goes down occasionally no matter what. There is no such thing as "perfect internet" or "internet that never going down" everyone's internet does.

in regarding that, that means people with internet will only be able to enjoy the console, and people with out shouldn't even bother buying it. So only a percentage of the year will users be able to enjoy the new Xbox and rest is just disconnects and the console not functioning because of it? Instead of all year long like the 360?

BS, whatever MS will start talkin soon.
