Sony Computer Entertainment America Trademarks “Kratos”

It’s been less than a month since Sony launched God of War: Ascension but a recent trademark filing suggest that we may not have seen the last of the Kratos. (PS Vita, PS3, PS4, Sony Computer Entertainment)

Awesome, I hope it's a PS4 game.
Would be great to see him in true 1080p glory.
With the magic of SSM, should be a feast for the eyes.

I Just hope Pappy doesn't direct this time.

1080p 60fps

kratos comes in in beautiful marble and gold room and rips blood, guts, and ass from gods and their minions, then runs to the next room. then comes back to marble room where the blood, guts and ass is still on the floor.

Not really news, author musta not really looked over the trademark. It's just a trademark for everything relating to Kratos: costumes, pens, action figures etc, not a new game..
CarlosX360  +   742d ago
Actually, you're right in one aspect, but this trademark means they want to expand Kratos from just a character, to his own game. I mean, the trademark filing also covers "computer game software," and "digital game software" meaning a new game with "Kratos" slapped on top of the boxart is possible.

I, mean, in GOW3 he killed himself. There's a lot of things you can do with a "dead character" especially one that's already a legend.

How do you get that from a trademark? Nowhere in there does it say "this trademark means they want to expand Kratos from just a character, to his own game." Games are computer game software no matter what console they are on, and digital meaning Ascension, just released on the PSN store as well as the other God of War games.

You're looking into this way way too deeply.

Nope. Not deeply, it's waaaaaay too obvious. I mean, the filing took place only mere weeks after God of War Ascension.

AND they (anything, really) don't have to say "this trademark means they want to expand Kratos from just a character, to his own game." It's called clues, and subtlety.

That's probably the name of PS4's Operating System.

I wanna play GOW game without white skin Kratos. Maybe during the times he was fighting wars for Ares and his family was still alive.

A better game will be while he was the God of War like in Ghost of Sparta but way bigger. They said he was more ruthless in battles then Ares ever was. Now let us see that SSM. Ghost of Sparta should of been the game for the PS3 instead of Ascension.
CarlosX360  +   742d ago
I want to see that, but it has to be executed right.

would be hard for it to not just be a dynasty warrior game, but it could be really interesting.
Mouktouk  +   742d ago
Back in the PS2 era, I was thinking about a Kessen-like or Dynasty Warriors-like God of War game where Kratos commands his army, before he becomes the Ghost of Sparta.

Unfortunately, that's not the kind of game that would appeal to the masses, but in my opinion, Kratos' past fits pretty much that kind of game.
CarlosX360  +   742d ago
It would appeal to the masses. Thing is, Dynasty Warriors/Kessen wasn't appealing as a game alone.

Now, don't get me wrong I used to love Dynasty Warriors and I even bought a few games for it. However, the appeal died off quickly because it's little bit like Call of Duty, that "cut n' past" rehash. It gets stale after a while. And the story was pretty non-existent to a point. The story is petty much in the background, not in front of your face like God of War.

All along, God of War was that "Dynasty Warrior" idea. See, every time we fight the hordes of enemies, we keep asking for more. It leaves you begging for more. So, if this "ruthless" Kratos is true, then we'll see it next gen, since the technology is there now.

A lot of the times, I feel like God of War was limited (due to hardware limitations, of course), starting from GOW, to GOW3. God of War 3 pretty much gave us a taste of what to expect in the next game.

Err....wasn't Kratos a real Greek god. Obviously, the Greeks didn't depict him like the video games do, but I'm pretty sure that the name "Kratos" appears in the mythology.

If you mean Cratus, then yes he was the son of styx and pallas, and he had 2 siblings, and ironically enough they all protected zeus as his winged enforcers.
imsocool1234  +   742d ago
In Greek mythology, Kratos or Cratus (Ancient Greek: Κράτος, English translation: "power") is the son of Pallas and Styx and the personification of strength and power.

Kratos and his siblings—Nike ("victory"), Bia ("force"), and Zelus ("zeal")—are the winged enforcers (sky tides) of the Olympian God Zeus.

He makes an appearance in Aeschylus's Prometheus Bound, in which he is one of the trio that binds the titular Titan, the other two being Hephaestus and Bia.

This was taken from Wikipedia.

If my memory serves me correctly, SSM said they're releasing two God of Wars. 1 for PS3 and God of War 4 for PS4.

is it time for kratos to invade the vita next? ^_^
remanutd55  +   741d ago
yes, it is time for Kratos to bring his gory to the psvita.

bring back Cory Balrog as game director.
wenaldy  +   742d ago
FYI, he currently worked as Cinematic Director for Crystal Dynamic (Tomb Raider). Stig Asmussen is a better choice or better yet, David Jaffe.
ginsunuva  +   742d ago
Maybe the movie name?
remanutd55  +   741d ago
This must be a psvita game, it simply MUST, the system needs a God of War game ASAP.

Kratos: Origins! We get to play Kratos as a kid, when he was fighting his brother and then became a soldier!
