The next generation Xbox is going to force you to be online all the time. This is not as bad as most people are making out. Find out why.
Always online features, fine. Mandatory always online DRM, not fine. Not fine at all, the gamers have spoken, well the ones that recognise the disparity.
Exactly, there is a huge difference between "always on" vs "always online".
the 360 launched big and became big because it was great and it was cool, it was the only next gen platform at the time for a full year and made a great new online experience standard, it had great 1st, 2nd and 3rd party games, FPS,TPS, racing, and even JRPGs. the core community loved it for all of this and made it a phenomena and part of pop culture, not marketing marketing did not sell Nokia W phones, it did not sell Zune and it wont sell "Always Online". the Durango was having a challenge going vs. the PS4 just on specs, now MS pull this WTF?! and lets say I have a fast stable internet, that only means Gaikai will work great and makes the the PS4 a better option.
Can you share the 720 specs with us? Please... No rumors but current facts. Thanks. Nah forget about the unnnounced 720 and the specs only people on N4G seem to know. Can you show me how you know what the final PS4 specs will be? Since PlayStation specs have never been what Sony Announces. Again thank you...
the same info about specs and "always online" keeps coming back from different sources for some months now, this isn't someone pulling some random $#!t out of his @@$. MS silence is not helping, better to make our opinions known while they have time to change things before its to late, getting carried away by the choir didn't help the WiiU.
@ newmonday You call greenpowerz and @@$ yet you still have nothing but the "speculation" from rumors. greenpower is right. You have NOTHING but rumors surrounding the next xbox and you are basing your own opinion off of them. You have no facts. Ms's silence doesn't mean that the rumors are true. MS has NEVER EVER responded to rumor or speculation. I don't understand how at this point people like you still don't know this. Why would MS make a comment when there is plenty of time between announcement and release. LMFAO that YOU think MS owe's YOU ANY kind of response to a rumor. MS will announce at E3 the new xbox and will actually HAVE a console to show. "Gamers" who think companies owe them information regarding a product that has yet to be announced are just idiotic. MS is loving the free publicity as it has become wildfire and is now the #1 most talked about console on the market and it hasn't even been announced yet. N4G (the Sony heaven) is nothing but next xbox articles regardless if it's positive or negative. The next xbox is the most talked about console and is on the minds of EVERYTONE, even the Sony Loyalists. Een more so then the Nintendo WiiU and the PS4. MS and the rest of the internet is laughing their butts off at you people.
@levelup ... Riiight ms are laughing about how well the ps4 was received and how its all negative rumours surrounding the nextbox .... Cuz thats how billion dollar companies get rich by laughing at customers .... /s Im sure ms has a plan but none of this was part of it
@Lvl_up_gamer wasn't talking about greenpowerz, I was mocking the hit baiting blogs that make things up. this "always online" talk started months back, but we didn't talk much about it, and most like me dismissed it as a silly rumor. but recently more sources talked about it and even an MS employee and after him Paul Thurrott. this isn't the usual N4G $#!t, in every game site comment section the sentiments are the same about this.
The funny thing is Sony announced quietly yesterday thatthird parties will be putting drm into ps4 games. Then Ubisoft announce AC4 and Watchdogs will use it. You can bet other publishers will follow suit. Not defending MS but the PS4 looks like it will be kust as guilty. Sony would lose support if they dont allow it anyway. All gamers will have to deal with it.
PS4 owners will be able to play Diablo 3 offline. Deal with it. Motorola RAZR i
Which is fantastic. But a few years in, I predict that a huge majority of publishers will go with online drm for PS4. Just like online passes became pretty standard this gen. Ubisoft look like they're getting involved from the start, and I imagine EA might too. Interesting that Activision might not as they are one of the few who didn't bother with online passes as well.
This is an obvious flamebait article.
Seriously can we have some news on the PS4 or even the PS3, MS isn't paying you guys to give them press time.
When some actual news - some actual games - start showing up we'll talk about them. As is the PS4 is a largely known quantity which will only be further detailed come E3. Meanwhile, no matter how some are trying to spin things, MS's current position can only be made better by refuting current maligning rumors and say, "here's are system and here's the game which shows how its better than anything else. Though chances are based on past experiences what they're really going to say come E3 is, "Hi general audience here's something shiny and new, Kinect, Halo, COD and Madden" while off stage they'll add, "F-U hardcore gamers you have to play online and can't resale used games."
There's nothing really wrong with "always online" - until you make no accommodations for offline. That's what happening with the current generation and why its such an issue with things like Simcity and Diablo 3. Its certainly going to become a problem with people who buy an Xbox3 under the mistaken idea they'll be able to play it offline when they have no internet. When they then want to return it but wont be allowed to.
Microsoft is as wrong as the atrocious grammar in the headline.
Like I said before, anything can be spun into a good thing. . .this however is just a massive stretch. A ridiculous one.
Ya I agree ... Noone has stable internet all the time ... It can screw up for any number of reasons .. A good sp game is always desirable in these cases .
How can anyone say that this is a good thing? The next Xbox is gonna suck balls and we all know it? Why would anyone buy it when they can have a great ps4!
I would buy it because judging by the comments, an online-only console would drastically reduce the amount of self-entitled whiners I'd run into while playing online. And that would be worth every penny.
You do bring up a good point ... I loved my 649 dollar ps3 there was virtually zero 12 year old little a holes online
And drastically increase the amount of kids who don't give a shit because their parents pay all the bills that you'd run into while playing online. I'll take the "self-entitled whiners," thanks.
I wont be putting one of these always online, mandatory Kinect enabled devices in my kids room. They'll have to stick with the 360 they have now.
The next Xbox won't have this feature, it is essentially marketing suicide
