11 beloved PC game studios: Gone but not forgotten

PC World - With the shuttering of LucasArts this week, we're taking a look back at some of our favorite PC game developers and publishers that are no longer around. Some of these companies introduced us to PC gaming, while others helped to define a genre that's still popular today. (PC)

Lucas Arts... not missed
Looking glass... went extinct 13yrs ago but Theif and bioshock live on
Westwood... EA sucked for that but C+C lives on
Origin systems... Never heard of em but it looks as though EA had a hand in their demise. Nothing new.
Ion storm... Squarenix did Dues Ex better
Bullfrog... never heard of em
New World... Their main franchise lives on
Parallex... Gone before I got my first computer
Sierra... Leisure suit larry... Oh no... gaming will never be the same :(
Infocom... archaic
Spectrum holobyte... Lol 33MHZ processor being high end... wow.

Most of this companies died out 10-20 years ago... the rest were bought out by other companies. All the worthwhile games put out by these publishers are still around. It's not about the name on the box but the talented people those companies had working for them.
