A Farewell to LucasArts

The writers, editors and other content producers of inMotion Gaming come together to talk their favourite LucasArts games from across the generations (Escape from Monkey Island, PC, PS3, Retro, Star Wars 1313, Star Wars Battlefront, Star Wars Galaxies, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed , The Secret of Monkey Island, Wii, Xbox 360)

it's sad for all the game community that Disney closed LucasArts.

It's a pity that headline isn't 'Farewell Disney'.

Republic Commando, Battlefront, The Force Unleashed.

All awesome games. Rip

Yes they were (Force Unleashed was decent, but not great). That said notice the really good ones Republic Commando, and Battlefront were both missing from this ENTIRE generation!!??! A real WTF moment? Both would have been multi million plus sellers 5x over. Instead Lucasarts made Kinect Star Wars.

I say good riddance. A mismanaged developer that squandered one of the worlds most powerful IP's.

I look forward to a DICE produced Battlefront....imagine that!!!?!

Farewell...more like YEH glad your gone
SMARTEST MOVE in Gaming right now.

LucasArts has made a few great Star Wars games but now just licensing out the Star Wars brand will allow BETTER dev teams to make BETTER Star Wars games.

Imagine DICE making Battlefront 3 on the Frostbite 3 engine
Imagine Bethesda making KOTOR 3
Imagine Crytek making the Force Unleashed 3

hopefully Lucas Arts doesn't make it a pain in the arse for other Dev teams to use the Star Wars License.

Both Battlefront and KOTOR were already developed by third party developers, just published by LucasArts.

And Disney now holds the licensing rights to the Star Wars universe, so if any Star Wars games are going to be made, it's almost definitely going to be through third party developers with Disney Interactive playing the role of publisher. They can do whatever they want with the franchise. After all, they're the ones that dissolved LucasArts in the first place.

I just pray that Telltale will continue the Monkey Island games.
