No Tales Of games for Wii U/PS4 in the near future

The Tales Of RPG series has appeared on many game systems but in an interview recently series producer Hideo Baba confirmed that neither the Wii U or the PS4 have a Tales Of game in development. (Nintendo, PS4, Sony, Wii U)

I'm sure they want time to play around with the systems before going in and creating a new game in the series.

That's a bummer. But hey, that doesn't mean the Tales of series can't hit both those consoles farther along in the generation. Besides, they can still probably do some cool things on the PS3/360.

Frankly, living in the uk the last Tale's game I remember getting was on the PSP.

That makes me a sad panda...

that's just sad. i was hoping to get a new Tales of RPG. maybe it's not gonna be a "Tales of..." though.

Even if they *were* developing a new Tales game for the PS4 or Wii U, I mean, Xillia 1 won't come until later this year, and then there's still Xillia 2, which will probably still come to the original PS3, because then it could be played on both PS3 and PS4 (digitally). And that's at least a good two years out. Currently, a chunk of the Tales staff is working on the new Smash Bros. on Wii U, so I'd say it will be a good 2-3 years before we see a new Tales game, 3-4 for a new Western release after Xillia 2.

But there *will* be one. Just probably far in the future. I'd expect the next original Tales game to go to either the Vita or 3DS because of the bigger audience and cheaper dev costs before jumping into next-gen development.

The tales team is working on smash? I'm pretty sure that'll be the tekken team. Makes no sense to put a rpg team on a fighting game when you have a team that makes fighting games, lol. ( i could be completely wrong though).

I'm assuming it's a majority of the Tekken staff, but reports say it's a mashup of staff from all over Namco Bandai, including the producer and the director of the 'Tales' series.

What about 3DS?

Tales of Graces F was very good on the PS3. I would play another, if given the chance.

the tales team is working on the story mode for smash and the tekken team is working on the fighting side of smash.

but I think both systems should get a good tales game in the future.
