Microsoft Seeking Glacier Blast Trademark

It appears Microsoft is preparing a new game called Glacier Blast. The company this week filed an application with the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) for the name, covering "game software."

Microsoft also picked up a related domain name--www.GlacierBlastGame.com --at the end of March. The website currently redirects to a Bing search. (Glacier Blast, PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

Awaits mandatory Kinect remarks.
As usual, I remain cautiously optimistic.

Microsoft has the most first party studios out of the big three, with most studios working on unannounced projects. Expect many new games announcements in the coming months.

If half are Kinect games, then Microsoft simply has as many studios as SONY.

It's a good time to be a 360 owner :D

Really? What new IPs has the 360 seen in the past 3 years? and what massive exclusives has the 360 had in the last 3 years?
AngelicIceDiamond  +   782d ago
What he means is MS has most first party studios "going into next gen"

MS opened up allot of new studios in the past few years. Most of the studios are Largely not active for the 360 but for the 720. While some are strictly making Kinect games for 360.

Its all being made for the the 720, forget the 360. The revenue, the R&D, the development, all of it is being transferred to the 720 from this point on.

That's what he means Microsoft has more first party studios.
HammadTheBeast  +   782d ago
All of Sony studios are going into next gen, yet they've managed to make quality PS3 exclusives in the meantime.
aviator189  +   782d ago
a good number of their studios only recently opened up and haven't been around long enough to develop a game and put it out.

though, I'm especially curious as to what black tusk studios is developing.

Just don't listen to NeverEnding1989, he is just trolling per usual.

Anyway @NeverEnding1989 *cough cough* I mean Never Ending Trolling Since 1989, what IP's. You are just so foolish Even Nintendo makes more IP's than MS so I do not know what you are talking about. Remember Rare, you know that amazing studio until MS bought it and then it spat out stupid games. I only remember Halo 4 and Forza Horizon as the last IP's (the ones I would buy at least). Sony and Nintendo bring out at least 5+ IP's every year and MS usually 1+ . The old MS from 2005-2007 was the best but ever since Kinect and money came, they got selfish.

DOMination-  +   781d ago
Hes not trolling. Its a fact that MS owns 22 studios and Sony 12. Lets wait for e3 to judge how good they are though.
Tultras  +   782d ago
I wonder how many years you've been saying that before going to sleep every night.

" It's a good time to be an Xbox 360 owner "

I'm sorry, it's a bit late to be one, 3 years too late, looking at it theoretically, there couldn't be a WORSE time to be one.

No personal attack intended*

Sounds very retro like an Atari game.
AngelicIceDiamond  +   782d ago
Sounds casual, but as usual I'll wait and see what it could be. And not pre-judge.

It is going to be hilarious when E3 comes around and MS has more core exclusives to show off than Sony.

But Sony fanboys already got the "always on" rhetoric to fall back on
stage88  +   782d ago
Always online is a huge dealbreaker. Don't try and sweep it under the carpet.

Core exclusives are great, except when they're catered to Kinect. Unfortunately, Microsofts core is Kinect so rather than finding E3 'hilarious' I'd probably find it more worrying.
Catoplepas  +   782d ago
Yes, because Microsoft are of course well known for their unrelenting support of core gamers, and their diverse, rich IP portfolio.

What parallel universe do you live in?
PS4isKing_82  +   782d ago
More exclusives than Sony? Keep dreaming.

On topic: game sounds like a low budget xbla or kinect title.
Tultras  +   782d ago
Yeah I've been laughing my ar*se off these past e3 events for the exact same reasons!!

Said no one ever.

Remember the beginning of this generation. When MS line up was waaaay better than Sony's.

OH yeah, everyone forgets because it doesn't fit with the "MS doesn't invest in the core" rhetoric that fanboys love to scream

Bioware got bought, SK embezzled money from them, Alan Wake went through development hell, Splinter Cell got scratched and reworked. And the second waze of studio closures in 2009 was done as a company cut to save money because of the recession, not because MS was giving up on the core.

Sony Fanboys are the ones who forgotten the past because it gets in the way of the Bullshit they like to spew in the preset.

Remember the Ps2 generation where Sony wiped the floor from the competition?

We could quote events all day long, where Sony comes out stronger.

I know Sony was worse off at the start of this generation, high cost price, weaker library, it's no wonder it WAS losing.

But these past e3's It is undeniable that Sony has bested Microsoft in the ' Core ' exclusives category.

In the business and competitive world we live in, it's not what you've done in the PAST, it's all about what you're DOING and are going to do if you want to succeed, and right now, Sony is undeniably doing 10x more than Microsoft.

Glacier Blast. Hmmmmm I wonder what game genre does this title fit in? FPS? RPG? HackandSlash? Fighting? Excuse me my throat is swelling and I need to *cough*Kinect*cough* I think its an FPS where your a native tibetan civilian and a group of guys took your village. So its up to you to make these guys pay. And the controls would be revolutionary you dont need a controller and the room would be illuminated to have extra scene views. I think this will be a fun Triple A game.
