It's hard to say which game is the best of 2013 so far. But two games are in a dead heat for worst: Aliens: Colonial Marines and The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct.
A:CM is the greater of two evils. A lot of people and myself included didn't really high hopes for survival instinct especially after seeing that youtube video of its gameplay footage. A:CM on the other hand, fooled a lot of us especially with that E3 video. The final product was nowhere near what we seen in that video. Gearbox drop the ball, again first DNF and now A:CM. It seem like the only GB is good at is Borderlands.
Alien colonial marines, to have been waiting since 2008 the end result really disappointed
Enslaved is worst than both.
I thought Enslaved was a bit overrated by reviewers but it's not a terrible game by any means.
It's like comparing cat crap with dog crap, both stink no matter how much you twist
Aliens may be more disappointing, but The Walking Dead is the worst game of the two.
My thoughts exactly. TWD is worse, but we knew it would be. Aliens CM was a mess and titanic disappointment.
There is only one Duke.
Black Ops: Declassified.
That came out last year, not this year.
both of them...coz i didn't played any of them
While both games can be considered as "scrapping the bottom of the barrel", I think Aliens: Colonial Marines has done the most harm to the broader Aliens franchise, and the reputations of both Gearbox and Sega. Also, unlike Activision's Walking Dead game, what was promised, or what was initially showcased didn't actually exist. I consider that a greater evil - i.e. blatantly lying to customers. Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, on the other hand, could easily be dismissed as a poor quality cash-grab from the first previews.
WDSI was obviously done on a low budget and a short dev cycle as a cash in. They tried to incorporate a few creative gameplay mechanics and slightly open level design but they just couldn't pull it off. Like CODBO Declassified, it's more of a case of an average studio with not much leverage being forced to accept a "suicide mission" from a publisher to make ends meet. Aliens however took forever to make, and there are accusations of redirecting money from the Sega-backed Aliens to the Gearbox-owned Borderlands IP. Aliens is probably slightly less boring by virtue of belonging to the more visceral shooter genre and based on a very strong IP, but it accomplishes nothing at all and in a way it's a more disgusting failure.
Aliens was sold off the back of a pack of lies and opened a lot of people's eyes up to just how poorly run the industry actually is. Walking Dead was crapped out as quickly as possible to promote the new series of the show rather than waiting for the next season and giving the developers more time. Both exposed the cynical nature of the industry, both are crappy licensed games...but of the two, Survival Instincts is the worst, IMO, because of the potential that was there. Aliens had some potential too, but what was released ended up as simply yet another FPS game, no more, no less. Survival Instinct had some interesting ideas that, if given more time, could have been very good indeed and elevated the game above the typical FPS crowd. The survival elements could have been fun, the use of fellow survivors and the emotional impact of cutting them loose could have added some real weight to the proceedings if it wasn't so half baked. It could have been a great first person survival horror game in the mould of Zombi U...so for me, the differences it could have offered make it the most disappointing of the two.
The one that not only had a demo which showed it could have been better, but its - supposed - dev team standing behind it assuring that demo was real.
ACM - Reasons - A known franchise idea and popular movie series It had the Hype The hype was backed up by the company The company backed it up with a Demo Game released, was crap, was a lie, and the company denied accountability It really doesnt get much worse that that.
After reviewing both games and seeing how they were, I'm going to have say that Survival Instinct is the worst of the two. While Colonial Marines was a graphical and disappointing mess, Survival Instinct falls further with its many pointless aspects and ideas that fall short every time. Plus, even though both are lackluster first person shooters, gameplay mechanics in Survival Instinct make it a chore to play through. You can just run through a whole level in Colonial Marines to get to the next section. To this day, Survival Instinct is the game that has received the lowest score I have ever given a game.
The saddest part is that by the end of the year there will be worse games released than those two.
The Survival Instinct PR team didn't make any promises and so none were broken, therefore, no matter how bad it was going to be it was ultimately going to be eclipsed by the rottenness that was A:CM.
xbox 360 lol
