We don't need 40 first-person shooters, says Just Cause studio

We don't need 40 first-person shooters, but the big-budget game isn't going away, Avalanche Studios' creative director Stefan Ljungqvist has told Gamasutra.

"I don't think big-budget games are going away," said Ljungqvist. "There's going to be less of them. But that's a good thing, because maybe we don't need forty first-person shooters. I don't want to play them all [laughs], but maybe we need one, two or three. (Industry, Next-Gen)

As far as competitive multiplayer shooters go, we don't need that many. Just the top 2. Halo for space/arcadey shooter and Battlefield/Bad Company for military shooter.
The rest of the fps games should stick to single player, like FarCry and Half Life.
