David Hayter Not in MGS 5 In Order to “Recreate the Metal Gear Series”

SonyRumors dives past the reason why David Hayter will not be appearing in MGS 5 in order to "recreate the Metal Gear series" and discusses the underlying problems that appear to be plaguing the Japanese gaming industry by trying to Westernize long time franchises. (Industry, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360)

He might as well confirmed that he'll be in it.

Not sure why you got disagrees. That WAS David Hayter's voice in the Ground Zeroes trailer.

Doesn't matter. I've been saying this for three days now (even since I've found that video)...

Snake's lipsync in Ground Zeroes trailer is a near 1:1 match for Hayter's delivery, not Otsuka's. All of this is just another Kojima/Hayter ruse. They did the same before Metal Gear Solid 2 released and made everyone believe that Snake was going to be the lead character until launch day.

Recreate? Then reboot it with a new plotline/universe. Stop doing needless interquels and prequels and diluting the story.

So true...

I don't see why it's MGSV if it's another prequel, it should just be spin off for consoles or even handhelds if it takes place after Peace Walker.

I understood the third game because it was something different and we needed to have some backstory on Big Boss but we pretty much know who he is now.

Kojima should of came up with an amazing story to continue Snakes adventures....I know I know it was his final game but with the ending of the first MGS we thought he would live his life with Meryl and settle down but obviously he didn't. If he made it so there was a cure for the gene ageing thing Snake has they could revolve a plot around that and introduce a new villain. It can be done, it's his story and with stories you can do anything you like to them.

If it was a reboot I would understand why David wasn't in it but since they've kept the Japanese voice actor and it's a main game there was no point.

What he means that kojima wants to try to do something new. Maybe even evolve gaming by taking the chance to release his game in a way that may media or even countries hate it and ban it for being too realistic and will effect people in a way. He want to make it really serious so gaming won't be just a kids toys. To me i think MGS V gonna be better then movies when it evolved. Kojima himself said that he have to try to do that..

I'm just really excited for it ^^

@Root
It is a sequel because all metal gear games are connected to each other. It's not only about Big boss , It's about metal gear so he try to make the game interesting by making it complicated and confusing. Going to the past then the future then the past is just a way to tell a story. Movies even start from the future and then go to the past. So it's not a prequel it's a sequel because it's just talking about the same story to one ending. I think MGR is a prequel or spin off or something like that which is a great game :)

In a short way I don't care if he troll or not. I'm happy for whatever kojima do to mgs. He is a smart guy and have his reasons. It's not like we are talking about activition who destroy games. It's kojima guys. He have been working on this for a long time so i think he knows what he is doing more then us.

I can't help it, Betting my left nut this is a prank. There is just no way.

Ruse. The Japanese VA is the same. He also deleted the only supposed to be proof that this isn't a joke. He delete the #NoAprilFools tweet maybe after realizing that it's too much.
crimsonfox  +   538d ago
If this was true then the Japanese Voice actor would be differnet too. I think the original voices for Snake will be in Ground Zeros (like in the ground zeros trailer) and the new ones will be in Phantom Pain. Because Big Boss will be running into Solid Snake soon And it would just be weird. Thats the only thing I could think of that makes sense. Other wise...I'd die inside

And technically Hayter wouldn't be lying about him not being in "V"

shit happens they recently re-cast sam fisher as well not using micheal ironside who has been sam fishers voice in every game ..

I think the difference is that Splinter Cell games don't nearly have the same lure, romance, and legacy as an MGS game does.
