Avalanche Studios' founder claims that Star Wars 1313 needed another two years to be completed

DSOGaming writes: "A couple of minutes ago, we informed you about the ‘closure’ of Lucas Arts. Okay, the studio is not closing down but we might consider it dead as it will no longer be developing new titles. Lucas Arts had in store a pretty amazing Star Wars game that pushed the Unreal Engine 3 to its limits. However, that game was nowhere near close to a playable level and according to Avalanche Studios’ founder, it needed another two years to be completed." (PC, PS3, Star Wars 1313, Xbox 360)

don't take the S-E route please. Sony, MS please fund it. i won't mind if it's exclusive, i'm getting all next-gen consoles anyway...

also, MS, if you get this, don't add Kinect...

You know they will. Why even suggest Microsoft?

Do you realize what you're asking for with M$? Think! Just think for a minute. Sony would it justice, but I'd rather them make something else. A new storyline driven FPS to replace Resistance is more important than the 90th Star Wars game (although 1313 did look good).

Vaporware confirmed.

To spark interest. A lot of studios do that. Take a look at the early announcement screenshots of Aliens: Colonial Marines for example (that were CG but that was revealed later on. Also, there was a supposedly leaked off-camera footage from Gearbox's offices).

I thought this was common knowledge. The characters were stand ins and weren't going to be in the final game.

Frankly I'm glad LucasArts is gone. They were a cancer on a near bulletproof franchise.

The license is still alive. Big question is what will Disney do with Star Wars overall.

But no matter what they decide it will be better than LucasArts.

"You want Battlefront 3? Okay, here's a generic TPS, enjoy!"

I wanna see what DICE could do with Battlefront series honestly.

Storm troopers laser knifing people?

Actually ATATs being taken down with those Awings.

Maybe a game with jedi balanced to a real world standard. Meaning they could not always deflect shots and so on.

Wookie arm wrenching people. The fun it would be to jump out of a starfighter land on a sniper nest and break everyone one there with a wookie melee animation.

So many possibilities.

And the one thing getting in the way of those possibilities was LucasArts.

Not sure if that disagree was you but in response to it I would say that had it not been for a great franchise like SW, LucasArts would have tanked years ago.

This is a company that clearly did not understand what its customers wanted. It would be like Dice, after hearing how much people wanted BF4 decided to make some generic platformer.

Not me disagreeing.

Some of the best SW games have been licensed out to developers. I believe almost 99% of them really. If they keep doing it then its not really much of a change from Lucasarts. As long as they actually finish a product.

They can take as long as they want.
