Five Things Zelda Wii U Should Borrow From Twilight Princess

GenGAME writes: "Do you remember the moment when The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was first announced at E3 2004? There’s a reason why the game elicited so much cheering and applause – for many, it represented a return to form for the series after The Wind Waker‘s experimental art style and world. Bearing this in mind, the next Zelda game for a home console – Zelda Wii U – could represent a similar shift, away from the experimental direction of Skyward Sword and back to core conventions." (The Legend of Zelda, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Wii, Wii U)

How
About the Artstyle? You know like the demo at E3 had. Nah, I bet it will probably be some sort of cel shading.

Granted, that's not necessarily bad. I like the way the series expands visually. That prevents it from being too monotonous. Honestly, try convincing me that Majora's Mask and Wind Waker (outside of sword combat) are anything alike.

I don't care what art style they use, but I would like a cinematic experience and an actual story. It would be awesome to have god of war's like bosses that it gets confusing if you are in control of the character or not. Fighting bosses riding Epona, like Shadow of the Colossus, etc. If the Wii U has more power than a PS3they can accomplish it.

I would also like a good story. To be able to relate to the characters and have deep development of their personalities. Link doesn't have to talk, but please chance the Zelda needs to be rescued and there is a hero of time to save her story.

What I don't want is a world as big as Skyrim or something like that, because then the game would most likely be mission type and i prefer a linear story, although not so linear like Uncharted.

I wish people would stop trying to turn Nintendo games into Sony games... If you want God of War size boses then play that game or Bayonetta 2, but Zelda is Zelda for a reason and not any of those other games. Anouma has pretty much confirmed that the New Zelda will be more like the first Zelda, meaning going for a non-linear style game play so you're out of luck there as well.

No matter what Nintendo has in stores for the franchise, I will always look forward to more Zelda :)

I'm hoping ZeldaU is inspire by Link to the past story line wise I think is the best Zelda and with the gorgeous graphics that would be a epic adventure

I can't see how you can 'borrow' from another Zelda game. A Zelda game is a Zelda game. All Zelda games have common themes and ideas, from A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening to Oot, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess. Be it hook shots, boomerangs, alternate worlds, etc, they all exist in Zelda games regardless of being in 2D or 3D.

For a Zelda game to 'borrow' it needs to look outside the franchise. Perhaps taking inspiration from games like Red Dead Redemption (slow mo aiming and reputation), Fable 2 (pet dog or should i say fairy), Halo (online co-op and competitive). Or perhaps borrow from all and use voice actors. I'm not saying that I would want these things in a Zelda game, but that would be 'borrowing' as I understand it.

Since Nintendo now has an hd console I'd like to see them use it to the fullest, go as realistic as they can on the graphics and add in voice acting also.. That'd definitely differentiate it from the other Zelda games.

i would like to see how the series evoke in the next installment. As Ocarina of time, Wind Waker, Skyward Sword surprised me.

I am just hoping that they show off something at E3 in regards to this. I am excited for the Wind Waker HD Remake, but nothing can compare to a brand new Legend of Zelda game.

I think it was confirmed in the February ...or was it January... Nintendo Directs.

I remember Iwata saying that the New Zelda will be revealed (seen) at E3 and he wasn't talking about WW (HD).
Dj7FairyTail  +   632d ago
nope
Zelda WW HD is being shown at E3.
The Zelda Wii U game will take longer just like Skyward Sword. That why they are giving us Zelda Wind Waker HD to kill time for it. Zelda HD Wii U won't be shown until like end of the year or early next year or E3 2014.

Yeah. I remember they said they will show the next Mario in 3D but not a new Zelda. They just confirmed they were working on one.

There are a lot of franchises that Nintendo could show. Let's see what they choose. They will definitely show the new Yoshi yarn game and Zelda WW HD.

Just make an even more epic and mature toned Zelda, Make it epic like God of war, they can achieve that with the boss battles, and make it more mature alas Uncharted.

Seriously it pisses me off when they came out with Twilight Princess then Skyward sword which is half the game TP is.

GO CRAZY NINTENDO YOU NEED TO MAKE A SYSTEM SELLER!

I agree! I have been saying this before. I want epic boss battles, even while riding epona. But most importantly an epic story. They should forget the introduction of Link at the beginning of the game like every game released. They game should start with Link fighting an epic battle with Ganondorf trying to avoid getting Zelda harmed or something. No more this is link, get the sword, get the shield, this is how you play the game, now you are ready to go to your adventure to rescue zelda, etc.. They need to improve story telling and gameplay a lot.

I hope the art style is darker like Twilight.. That cel shading looks good n all but its been done to death already.. The Gamecube, DS, & wii u with the WW remake.. Twilight was up there with ocarina of time for me as one of the greatest zelda games ever made & the art style had a lot to do with it..

Well the Wind Waker HD Remake will be more of a hybrid between Wind Waker and Skyward Sword.

But yes, if they can match the look of that original E3 demo on the Wii U I would be very happy. I feel it is time to have an HD mature looking Zelda game.
