Nissan Gives Free Ad DLC to SimCity - Good or Bad?

MWEB Gamezone writer WelshPixie duscusses Nissan and EA teaming up to provide a free DLC for Sim City - could this be the start of a new wave of free, unobtrusive and ultimately game-enhancing product-placement for games?

The story is too old to be commented.

mmm, I must say I am a bit skeptical here. If we open the door of free product placement, where will it end? Pandora's Box this

I doubt it, it worked rather nicely in Monday Night Combat, even if it was fake - you even had a product placement grenade that, instead of whiting out your screen like a flashbang, it was ad flyers.

product placement is nothing new in games - it has been around since Space Quest 5, reared its ugly head in BF2142, and obviously been in others. Beneficial product placement is new, could be pretty sweet... if i owned Sim City

Yeah that's what Jaco was just saying. Nissan have dictated what's going into the game here; "it's effectively a cheat
true you are only cheating yourself as a player, but it's bothersome because they would have likely added a less "put this, it's good" type item if it weren't sponsored".
