12 Painful Enemies in Gaming

Bracken Lee-Rudolph from ITF Gaming writes: We’ve all encountered them – The enemy that seems to have been design specifically to ruin your day, the enemy with the vendetta against all player characters that is either painfully tough to defeat or consistently takes a decent portion of your health. Specifically with non-boss characters, these are present in nearly every action/adventure, first-person shooter or role-playing title and can often prove very frustrating to deal with. The following list contains 12 enemies that I found particularly infuriating when I encountered them in various games, and why they were such a pain to deal with. (Culture, Dragon's Dogma, Far Cry 3, God of War 3, PC, PS3, Wii U, Xbox 360)

Some of the hardest bosses that come to mind for me are from the Ninja Gaiden series...they were brutal!

From my side, I found the constant bombardment from absolutely everything in Borderlands annoying. You can't even walk around the corner without 10 things trying to kill you.

Hell yeah. NG, monster hunter, and demon/dark souls, plus most NES era games. Make me wanna pull my hair out and rage quit hard.

Trying to beat Mgs Ray on extreme difficulty. Is there any greater challenge.

Hmm. Well its not a bad article but to be honest Im disappointed in some of the choices...EVO troopers?? really? Droidekas?? Ravagers?? I will agree those are all formidable enemies but I think you're doing your readers a disservice by not bringing into account Dark Souls...arguably one of the hardest games ever.

Of course that's just like, my opinion, man.

That's fair enough. I'll be perfectly honest, there are 2 reasons I wouldn't include Dark and Demon's Souls into this type of article.

1) I haven't had a full playthrough of either. I've played bits here and there, but I've never sat down and just played one of them. It is something I intend to remedy, but for the moment I haven't.

2) The game is designed to be difficult, painful and frustrating. I was looking at enemies that were completely separate to their counterparts, and in the case of the aforementioned EVO Troopers, they certainly offered something different and frustrating, in the case of the Droidekas, they were a completely different build and a different threat to deal with and in the case of Ravagers, they were an enemy you wouldn't notice at first, but that could catch you by surprise. Enemies in Dark Souls, you expect to be like that, so it doesn't feel like their attacks are cheap.

Thank you for the read though. Hope you enjoyed it, for the most part.

You have a point about Dark Souls, although I must say it really is a damn good game...good job overall!

Lickers were a pain in the A$$ to be honest. Actually anything that latches onto a character is a pain.
