Top 5 Decisions That Ruined A Video Game Series

With the recent news that legendary voice actor David Hayter would not be reprising his role as Snake in the Metal Gear Series (wasn't even approached by Kojima), this maybe one of those major decisions that push a series into a decline. There have been few of these over the years, and hopefully this won't affect the Metal Gear series too much, but it's hard to imagine someone else voicing Snake at this point. Here is a list of 5 the worst decisions in video game history that would cause a negative effect on its series/genre in the future. (GameCube, Industry, Madden 25, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Next-Gen, PS3, PS4, Resident Evil 6, Retro, Sonic The Hedgehog, Wii, Wii U, Xbox 360)

On Going 3D: "Even Mario struggled with this somewhat, and have reverted back to side-scrolling."

wow, Mario 64 changed the way we played Mario. yes it wasn't perfect, but to say that it "struggled", and "... have reverted back to side-scrolling"? first up, the galaxy series were some of the best Mario games out there. sales-wise, it didn't falter either. as for reverting back to side-scrolling. the only reason why it went back to its roots was simply because Nintendo simply wanted to go back to the way it was originally played. in fact, the reaction to NSMBU had some people questioning why Nintendo didn't opt to release a 3D mario instead. and everyone was elated at the Nintendo Direct news when Iwata announced that a 3D Mario is in the works and will be shown on E3 2013.

but i do agree that turning Sonic into 3D kinda ruined it. but i'm sure if Sega can do it right like what Nintendo did for Mario, Sonic would also be awesome in 3D. and yes, i agree with the other points too, including Nintendo giving up on Sony's disc-based system (which eventually led to Sony getting into the gaming industry via Playstation -- and the rest is history).

Still too early to tell if Hayter is in or out. There's always something Kojima does with Metal Gear Solid that get people intrigued. I remember a time when it was said that Kojima wasn't directing MGS4, but we all know how that turned out.

It's difficult to tell if everything is the way it seems. Kojima is quite the sly fox.

Hayter or not this game is not ruined. I personally can live with a similar voiced character.
