Lackluster Tomb Raider DLC Fails To Include Single Player Content

GR - "Ever since Tomb Raider was released, fans who've completed the game have expressed their desire—loudly, even—for more single-player content to expand upon Lara Croft's adventures beyond the island of Yamatai." (PC, PS3, Tomb Raider, Xbox 360)

wasn't it stated very clearly that Tomb Raider wouldn't get any Single Player DLC?
smashman98  +   628d ago
Lol u should know by now gamers are a fickle group that can never be pleased
Kalowest  +   628d ago
How are we being fickle, when we didn't really want a MP to begin with? The campaign should've been 2-4hrs longer.
Kalowest  +   628d ago
Yep we heard them loud and clear, that's why we're not buying the MP DLC. The single player was so damn awesome they need to make some SP DLC; also the game felt short.
jc48573  +   628d ago
I'm glad some of you people feel this way. Really doesn't hurt to add more to SP.
sjaakiejj  +   628d ago
But it's strange to be disappointed by DLC not being for Single Player upon release when it was clearly stated that the DLC was not going to be Single Player.

I can understand you want more Single Player gameplay, but since Tomb Raiders release we already knew we'd have to wait for the next game to get that.

I didn't feel the SP was too short by today's standards. Honestly there were times I thought they could have ended the game and it still would have been a decent campaign. It didn't take me long to complete because I enjoyed it enough to keep playing, and it never really felt it dragged on too much. I also tried to do a lot of the collections and raiding during the actual missions, so maybe that's why it felt longer to me. Still want to go back and get the last of that stuff.

I haven't gotten into MP yet. Not sure I care enough to anyhow. I'm very much a SP person.
Reborn  +   628d ago
They won't do it. They'll continue to do MP things, even though, it's a weird choice. I mean the best business decision would be to make SP DLC. It would sell, much more than any MP content. Would've thought Crystal would have loved to use the rest of the map?

Well, who knows. I guess thats SE call.

When developers make a season pass gamers complain. When they don't -- gamers complain. This is a good thing. It means they didn't hold anything back.
Reborn  +   628d ago
That's down to the content being later discovered as on disc, ready content. That is content that should have not been used as DLC. You've basically just paid for a 100kb code to unlock that content.

The map is has a lot of space. So my initial thought was some SP DLC was going to fill it, or something? Not demanding it or anything.

kudos to the devs for making a complete game!

cant believe some 'tards are complaining that TR isn't getting single player DLC.
Dirtnapstor  +   628d ago
I don't think we're complaining about the great game it was, it's near perfect! The problem is, once you've maxed it out, there's nothing to do at all! No reason to return. Additional SP would continue its life...that'd be sweet!
gamer7804  +   628d ago
I'd rather they just make a new game thats different than this one, with a confident more mature lara that can handle actual puzzles and maybe even some swimming, not just killing.

Let's make DLC for the most hated part of the game. Genius!
gamer7804  +   628d ago
this new game is about making more $ period. They mainstreamed the game to include more killing and xp to kill better. Why not just go further and take the easy way out and rehash some level material for more multiplayer arenas. >.>

Please bring back the old Lara...

I just hope there is New Game +

Stop bitching the game was awesome and was a decent length, The only thing wrong with that game was the multi. Let them pour all there efforts into a nice sequel because right now thats the only thing square has looking good for them .
MilkMan  +   628d ago
Yep the devs stated it.
But this was a HUGE missed opportunity also I don't buy any season pass to games that contain MP in it. Thats the thing nowadays. You buy the game for the great SP and all the "season pass crap" is for the MP side of the game which will be dead in 2 weeks.

I'm hip to it, started with Assassins Creed and then Max Payne. The only season pass I bought blindly since was Bioshock Infinite cause its ONLY SP.
ziggurcat  +   628d ago
darksiders II is also only single player...
rainslacker  +   628d ago
I never get season passes either. It's rare that I want to play more SP in most games, and anything with MP isn't my thing. I did get it for Bioshock Infinite, but only because Gamestop gave $20 off the strategy guide which I was getting anyways when purchasing them together, so I basically got it for free.:) Even if you wanted to get all the DLC, it's usually cheaper to wait for a GOTY edition and then wait for it to go on sale.

Bad DLC Choice
So they want to make DLC for the part of the game that the majority of people don't care for...

Yeah. That's a GREAT business decision and I'm sure it will make them way more money than if they were to make SP DLC, because nobody is interested in exploring more of the island and more tombs. /s

Well, maybe it is a great business decision actually. Getting actors back and making a whole new area for a SP DLC is going to cost a lot more than making new maps, characters and weapons in multiplayer, therefore they may gain easy profit from it.

I just got 100% completion in Tomb Raider yesterday and now there is nothing to come back to. So some new single player DLC would be awesome. Would buy it in a instant.

I still want them to just start making a sequel as soon as possible and just pour all their efforts in to it. I have never been so surprised by a game before, definitely a GOTY contender on my part.
KillrateOmega  +   628d ago
You make a good point. I didn't consider the voice acting and other production costs when I made that first post.

I agree with you, man. I really want to see them make an excellent sequel to this game. It was a surprisingly successful reboot to a franchise that was on the decline.

I'm guessing that it will be either this game or Bioshock Infinite that will take GOTY.
Geovanny  +   628d ago
Why are so much developers finding the need to put multiplayer in all there games.
Mykky  +   628d ago
Extra profit through DLC and it appeals to the casuals.
- my guess
gamer7804  +   628d ago
MP maps are the easiest way to mostly reuse graphics and create a area for people to shoot each other in. There is no need for scripted events and writing of a story this time around. I would say no need for puzzles, but they dropped those in this game anyways.
bluetoto  +   627d ago
Bingo!
Williamson  +   628d ago
Some single player dlc couldnt hurt. I finished the game, found the collectibles, finished the challeneges and now nothing remains to do. A new game+ or more single player trophies would increased the replay for me.
