Criticism of Gran Turismo series director Kazunori Yamauchi over comments he made about GT’s engine sounds being ‘too real’ were ‘short-sighted’ according to the owner of the leading GT fansite.
I thought he was gonna provide decent criticism but all he did was complain about the engine sound. But I do wonder why PD makes the cars sound like vacuum cleaners....
They don't if you go into sound settings, change it from Living Room to Large Theater and have good speakers...
Indeed. I hooked up my decent pair of speakers and subwoofer and used the Mazda 787B. The sound was amazing and the bass could induce giddy jumps within me
"I thought he was gonna provide decent criticism but all he did was complain about the engine sound." If you're talking about Jordan, then you didn't read the interview that this article is in reference to. http://www.gtplanet.net/gra... BlmThug "Indeed. I hooked up my decent pair of speakers and subwoofer and used the Mazda 787B. The sound was amazing and the bass could induce giddy jumps within me" That's just a really well-sampled car. The audio settings within GT5 are there to produce a more dynamic sound all-around, but not just for cars' sounds. chukamachine "I think that is the problem. You must go into the settings like Estranged said and you get a nice base output." - It's only a problem to the people who don't care to experiment with both, the game's and PS3's audio settings. To this day, I'm still messing with the Video settings on my TV to get the most best-looking, and ideal, picture possible. A lot of it has to do with the inconsistency of the game's visuals like when you're in the shade the sky looks too bright, which actually has a lot to do with the PS3. I found that out when I was watching that FOX engine presentation by Hideo Kojima. metalgod88 "I'd love to see like...more diversity. I know some years of the same make are better than others, but to have 100 nissans that look pretty similar is just a bit much." - There's half that amount of Nissans and there are more Miata's/MX-5's than there are Skyline's/GT-R's. With that said, to say you want a greater diversified car selection in a GT game is... short-sighted. :D
I think that is the problem.
You must go into the settings like Estranged said and you get a nice base output.
Don't get me wrong, they could be much improved sounds and i'm sure it'll happen for GT6, because you need inside car sounds, outside, views need different sounds. Also gt does sound more digital instead of analogue.(cd-record type thing)
I always enjoyed the fact that purchasing a sports muffler, or overhauling the engine in GT5 would just make your car sound like a beast. Granted, the sounds could have been better, but PD definitely worked on the car sounds after its release. Anyone else notice the standard cars looking better and better? I know it still sucks that the in car camera showing the interior is black, but at least they worked at making the exteriors look sharper. I still hope in GT6, they go for quality rather than quality. I mean, the game has been out forever and I'm still trying to purchase 1000 cars lol. But even so, still an amazing game.
I think 500 different cars would be the perfect amount of cars.
Nope as much as humanly possible would be almost perfect. Hell there are so many cars that arent in the series its funny. Yes the high end exotics are ever present but what about the Nissan Sentra and other much loved cheap cars?
I'd love to see like...more diversity. I know some years of the same make are better than others, but to have 100 nissans that look pretty similar is just a bit much.
Yamauchi sure has "Nissan" fetishism.
guees hes got his driving license on a nissan, or f***ed her first on a nissans backseat, wathever, if only they could do a bit better than forza 4 i would much apreciate because its a bit shame, 1/3 of its staff, release 3 games this gen and they got all better reviews than gt5, except on proprietary or biased sites/magasines
greenpowerz, (it was very easy to spot you with your new alt account) love how you brag about reviews when GT5 outsold all forza games this gen but when it comes to reviews/GOTY awards uncharted games, god of war,LBP,journey .etc who outscore every xbox exclusives in the last 3 years in metascore and won GOTY awards while the last xbox game that done that was in 2006 then reviews/awards don't matter and only sales matter but when you have one xbox exclusive that outscore one ps3 exclusives reviews matter again right?! lol greenpowerz, double standers FTW
BUSTED! You are a celebrity troll on N4G Greenpowerz, the troll of trolls, lol.
He does races, like Le Mans, in a Nissan GTR.
the game is great but graphically the engine is far to sterile. Crappy still backgrounds not enough effects going on . Can't wait to see what gran t looks like on ps4 with upgraded engine.
Agreed 100% It's as soulless as that joyless drone who's head of Polyphony. Is it just me or does he always look miserable? I don't think I've ever seen the guy smile. Gran Turismo needs an overhaul. It has become so much of a driving simulator that it's like Polyphony has forgotten that it also needs to be a damn video game too! It has become a tedious chore to play. It needs improved A.I., more interesting tracks. A car customization option like Forza has. A less convoluted menu system. Virtual car tours of both the interior and exterior. Better car damage. Hey Polyphony, basically take a look at what Take 2 did with Forza and steal their ideas. Yes it's shameless. Yes it's sort of admitting that Forza does certain things better.
If you are looking at the backgrounds you're probably playing the wrong genre.
Now THAT'S a slow news day...
Personally I don't see the fury over the 'too real' comment. Most people complaining about it are kids or 20 something's driving Astras and VW Polos. They don't actually drive any of the cars they claim sound so bad. I'm not trying to brag but I own two of the games' better cars, and in the game they sound exactly as they do in real life inside the car. People's perceptions are spoiled by TV commercials and movies where cars sound like bass overloaded sound effects not actual engines.
