If Valve were to release a home console, Episode 3 would be a pretty decent launch title.

This is what worries me about steambox. Are valve games going to be exclusive. It would seem silly, but if they werent then would you buy it?

I don't think that they'd do that, as they'd severely limit their audience. HL2 and eps 1 and 2 were released on all consoles through Orange Box, so I don't see why they wouldn't do a wide release for this one as well.

No, it may not be ready for awhile.

Source 2 has only beenin development for 2 and a half years, it took 6 years for Half Life 2 to come out after the first game. Unless they doubled the amount of developers before they began work on Source 2 then it's likely still a while off.

I personally expected Doom 4 and Half Life 3 to release near each other like similarly in 2004, this time we may see Doom 4 a fair bit earlier but who knows.

I can't wait to see how performance scales on both game engines and i hope i can buy a high end graphics card and get 60fps or greater at 1080p, unlike in 2004 where Doom 3 and HL2 struggled in some areas and got as low as 20fps on my new 6800 Ultra.
