The Walking Dead: Survival Instincts Never Got The Chance To Be Good

Gamer Euphoria writes:

''Lets be honest, The Walking Dead: Survival Instincts was up against the world from the moment it was thought up. TV/Film cash ins have always been met with a degree cynicism , especially those based upon popular films and shows. It also doesn’t help that the game came out of no where, almost creeping up on people.''

I rented the game for a night out of morbid curiosity. It was liking playing a proof of concept for what could be a very good game.
Many of the mechanics were interesting and even the combat had a fair bit of weight behind it.
If it was given more than (about) nine months of development, it really could have been something worthwhile.

It's a shame really, but that's just the nature of licensed games i suppose. Maybe the concept will be revisited in the future, be it by another developer.

thats true but also the fact that anything activision produces tends to be complete shit. Their games COD and even this walking dead has some what of a smiliar look to them when it comes to the engine they use i mean look at the golden eye games that they make they all look like COD clones. seriously i never buy activision games only thing is destiny has my attention even tho activision is publishing the game bungie are making it.

I blame activision. The developers of this game have been proven to make excellent games such as the Ghostbusters video game which came out a few years back.

Im guessing low budget, lack of time and high expectations is what made the developers struggle with the game.

Im sure if they had the time, money, resources, and freedom, then we could have a better game.

"Im sure if they had the time, money, resources, and freedom, then we could have a better game."

How many games would actually be worse or as bad with these things? I believe a lot of people believe that even Declassified could have been a better game if they had all of the above.

Tell that to Gearbox and the recent all-time epic Aliens release. :)

3/10 From Me
Its seems rushed and less thought out that the popular TV-show. Seems to be following in the foot steps of most Movie and TV games.

I don't get these developers releasing stuff like this, it is inexcusable.

1. We have this little thing called the internet now, word spreads instantly.

2. We are at the tail end of this Gen, you should be able to make a decent game in your sleep with all the devs tools out there, the free Unreal engine Dev kit for example.

3. You have your Characters and story pretty much written for you, all you have to do is fill in some blanks.

4. You already have a built in audience, TWD has the highest rating of any TV show EVER, make something decent and you are almost guaranteed sales.

5 Games Based on Famous TV Shows

Let’s face it, shall we? TV tie-ins are usually a load of old guff. Search your feelings, you know it to be true. However, sometimes these games offer something that’s genuinely and surprisingly fun. It’s rarer than a rainbow coloured leprechaun riding a unicorn through Atlantis
