Should I buy BioShock Infinite?

BioShock Infinite is a fantastic achievement, there’s no real doubt about that, and as review scores roll in around the 90′s and 100′s, journalists are adamant that this is a product worth putting your money down on. One magazine, Gameplanet, said “BioShock is the most important new intellectual property of this hardware generation.” BioShock is most certainly not the most important new(?) intellectual property of this hardware generation (it uses old technology and hasn’t really revolutionized storytelling in games, it’s merely a good example of it) but it is a highly polished, and incredibly detailed gaming experience. (BioShock: Infinite, PC)

Personally I find that any game worth 60 dollars isn't worth it, unless it's a collector edition of some kind.
Capt-FuzzyPants  +   882d ago
If it's worth $60 then how is it not worth it? Your statement contradicts itself.

But anyway, I had no intention of buying it until my friend begged me too. And I'm glad he did. I'm not finished or all that far into it, but the characters seem to be growing into relatable characters that I can care for. It is very well written and presented very well too.

What I meant to say was that if any game that cost a total of 60 dollar isn't worth it. Also, I'm happy for you and stuff, but like I said before,I don't believe any game is worth 60 dollars, the asking price is far too much.

How dare you have zero intentions to buy it pre-release!!! You should be like this for EVERY Bioshock game: http://geexels.com/wp-conte...

Ya.... no. I have better things to do with my time and with my money.

I never, EVER pay the full $60 retail price for a game. I can usually find some kind of discount more or less for a game, new or used, if I deal hunt a little bit (at Slickdeals or CAG, for example). I think people that pay the full $60 for any game aren't being smart with their cash (unless they're rich, in which case $60 won't matter too much).

Renting a game to beat it (especially an ~8-hour game) would be smarter even if I can't find a discount on a particular title.

Hell, Crysis 3 and Dead Space 3 only came out recently, and a few weeks later they could be had for $20 to $30.

Good for you... But I wasnt actually talking to you which is why I didnt put @Murad at the beginning of my comment to show it was directed at you OR actually reply to your comment rather than someone else's.

You've just made it obvious that you really dont...

I've redboxed it and beat it in a couple days. Great game, but low relayability so I'd wait till its 25 or so to buy

i'll answer this the way others have answered. If you loved bioshock this game is very much a buy. It is short on the length side and there is no real incentive to play it once you beat it.

Linear hallway shooter, save your money
PhantomTommy  +   882d ago
Bioshock was a linear hallway shooter. The Half-Life games are linear hallway shooters. These games are all awesome, so is Infinite, buy it.

If you love great games, yes, yes you should buy it. I'm not a big fps fan myself but bs is an exception. Although if you can't afford it at the moment, I'm sure amazon will have a sale on it soon. They always do. Far cry 3 is already $30 when it was $60 just in November brand new for example.
Xer0_SiN  +   882d ago
i wouldnt if i was you. i bought it and beat it cause i read into all the glorious reviews. its alright but not the best game this generation. its not worth it at 60 bucks at all. rental definately.
SAE  +   882d ago
Yep. It is a good game. Don't see a reason not to. Just like what i said before. Just play it for what it is and you will enjoy it. Don't listen to reviews. I don't think it's that good but worth my time and money. To me this is at least 8/10. Sometimes i don't enjoy some games a lot. So when i replay them again i enjoy them more because i understand the story more. This is what is happening to me with infinite. I know it's a great game but something stopped me from enjoying it. Maybe thinking about other stuff in my life. It's sucks when that happen to me >.< ..

There is a vita chamber in the game. Is it in previous bioshock games?. Does this mean we will get a vita bioshock game?.

Lutece is worth the price tag alone.

Finely put!

I think that anyone saying the game is overrated or is only worth a rent, really didn't connect to the game, its characters or its narrative, perhaps didn't play the original. That's a REAL shame as it's one of the most finely crafted and one of the most relevant.

I'm sorry to say this, but looking at the comments on here, it's almost as if people are admitting they're not intelligent enough to follow the plot in depth. I mean @ ConsolesAreForSwines (below). you think BioShock 2 (yep he said it) is better than Infinite? and everything it does "has been done before"? yeah buddy sure it has. o_O

I bought the Songbird edition - zero regret. And I'll be playing through the game multiple times, unlike these people who think length and multiplayer are the only worthy attributes of a game.

It's one of the best games this year, definitely a GOTY contender, so I'd say yes, buy it!

Rent first... you may not like it as much as others
I dont like it, barely tolerate it to see if the plot eventually grabs me.

If money is the main issue, Tomb Raider>>>>>> Bioshock

one of about 10 games this gen worth $60 . Just seeing the environments and wonderful music and carnival atmospheres are amazing.
urwifeminder  +   882d ago
Skip it buy for ten bucks at the end of the year.
LeoDDestroyer  +   882d ago
Just beat it the other night and I have not desire to do another playthrough so I say it worth a rental but not a full purchase unless you can get it below the 60 dollars price. I did feel it took too long for the story to become interesting.

The game is a MASTERPIECE!
If your a gamer, YOU WILL buy it! Simply a living, breathing, interactive work of art...

If you have to ask, then probably not. Not like there is a sharp division in opinions.

If you're on the fence in spite of the 10/10 reviews it keeps getting then you probably wouldn't like it.
Only worth renting for a few days, didn't have half the variety bioshock 2 had, the only reason people will cling to this piece of crap is cause "irrational games" & "Kevin (JhaEckW) Levine" everything this game does has already been done & it has set pieces out it's ass, complete joke that it got perfect scores nearly everywhere.
