From The Minds Behind The Homeworld Series, "Hardware" Debut Trailer

From some of the minds that made Homeworld comes this gorgeous debut trailer.

Labeled as a social-strategy game, Hardware is coming from many of the minds behind the well received RTS series Homeworld. While Blackbird Interactive aren't giving away many details, or even any gameplay footage, the talent behind the game should be a good indicator of where the game could go.

Never played it. I do plan to eventually though.

I dunno if u can run it without DosBox or an old computer though. Don't quote me on that though, maybe google it. It's the first and probably still the only REAL 3d rts (3d navigation not just 3d graphics)

Donnieboi, you definitely do not need DosBox. I'm playing through the series for the nth time right now on Win7 64bit without any complications.

Right in the middle of a Homeworld playthrough. Do Relic not hold the licence any more? :(

Regardless, this peaks my interest. Gives me Dune-vibes.

Wargrave4037d ago

Relic were bought by Sega after THQ went under, but it's unknown who holds the license. There was even a indiegogo project a few months ago who tried, and failed, to buy it :(

ifritAlkhemyst4037d ago

Nobody holds the license currently. It is part of the THQ sale bundle that includes Darksiders and Red Faction that bidders can try for in the coming months. Unfortunately, Crytek USA just opened and is pretty much the original Vigil team from THQ. They want their Darksiders IP back, so if Sega/Relic want the Homeworld series it is going to be a pricey battle for it.

On topic, game looks far more interesting than anything I have seen in a long while.

Don't envy anyone competing with the Steam Deck.

Espangerish519d ago

Truth is none of them are as good. The cheaper ones are so much worse that I'd just pay more for a Deck. The more expensive ones aren't as good due to the lack of the Steam ecosystem and support the Deck has do I'd be spending more on something I like less. The only realistic challenger is a future Switch 2...until then Deck wins easily.
