Ubisoft: Gamers want Assassin's Creed every year

Ubisoft Montreal boss Yannis Mallat does not think gamers are turned off by the idea of a new Assassin's Creed game every year. (Next-Gen, PS3, PS4, Ubisoft Montreal, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

batbatz  +   793d ago
Dont forget Gamers also want always online DRM, oh and day 1 DLC, f@ck you EA I mean Ubisoft
nukeitall  +   792d ago
I can understand anger towards DRM and maybe DLC, but I do believe consumers do want an annual Assassin's Creed game.

I mean every year, people keep buying it and it tops the charts.

So again, what is the issue?
Tr10wn  +   792d ago
yeah especially when they improve the damn thing, im playing ac3 and looking forward black flag already.
TopDudeMan  +   792d ago
@Tr10wn by the time you get to the end of AC3, you'll want to retract that statement.
SageHonor  +   792d ago
It's funny. With COD its the same way and that game gets ripped apart
KaBaW  +   792d ago
@SageHonor -
The difference, to me, is that CoD is basically always the same.
Change a few weapon skins, player skins, map layouts, killstreak names.
They don't really add anything new; new features, new ideas, new.. stuff.
They might add one new thing a year, always been the same engine.
Assassins Creed has changed a lot and added stuff every new iteration.

"f@ck you EA I mean Ubisoft"

You're comparing DRM and day 1 DLC to annual franchises?

lolwut...?
chukamachine  +   793d ago
I don't want one every year.

When I play a game, I like to be amazed. Likes it's fresh and new.

AC games never feel that way to me.

1st was the best.
krazykombatant  +   792d ago
yup the first one was fresh, it went in an era of time in which not many console games go into. Lastly, the combat whilst not as fluid as it is now, it was much more difficult. Fighting a templar was always a little bit of a challenge. AssCreed games are wayyyy tooo easy.
KaBaW  +   792d ago
@krazykombatant -
Agreed. I loved the fighting better.. way better back in AC1.
You're an assassin.. not a super hero who can murder everyone.
MikeMyers  +   792d ago
The 1st one had lots of potential but it wasn't the best one. Assassin's Creed II was better IMO.

Gamers might want a new one every year but they need to make them more special by not pumping them out so fast. I would like to see proper releases so that they have time to really make a great game. Otherwise we are headed into a sports franchise where they don't have the time to make a great product.

So far, I think Brotherhood was the best. Haven't played Revelations or AC3 yet although I fully plan to. This series just gets better and better in my opinion. Just working through Liberation right now but not that far in. So far, I'm intrigued. It's quite different and yet still familiar. I liked that I could finish playing Brotherhood, pick up my Vita and jump into Liberation with nearly zero learning curve as far as controls go.

The only reason I'd like them to space these games out more is simply because I find I'm falling behind with so many great games in my collection I don't have time to play. :)
squallcloud9  +   793d ago
We would buy a new fresh ip from your studio with the same quality as assassins creed, but we can't promise that it will sell as much as AC, so...nevermind.

Keep milking the franchise, Ubisoft.
I read somewhere that drinking too much milk can turn you white.
If that's true, the people who keep buying these games will eventually look like KKK members on a Daz commercial.

Whiter than White. lmfao.

"Cleaner Close - Episode 69...

Daryll is playing the new Assassins Creed game.

'This guys hoodie is the whitest yet!'"
fsfsxii  +   792d ago
They mean the drones that keep bashing the games and buy them every year!
Good work Ubisoft, i won't buy any games from you anymore alongside with EA. Fuck both of you who keep ruining the industry
claud3  +   792d ago
Nope Ubisoft, you have it completely wrong

We want one less a year and with a solid story and solid gameplay, Not just a AC3 Naval expansion game

And passing it off as a full game
Zizi  +   792d ago
I guess Ubisoft is being too confident about their upcoming game. And that's silly.

I don't want AC to be released annually. I want AC that keeps getting better every year, not getting worse every year.
edenianrain  +   792d ago
Exactly and thats one of the many reasons i dont want it to be milked but the rabbid fangirl defense dont see that once a series becomes milked it loses the magic it once held, just like cod.
blackstrr411  +   792d ago
NO we dont
Omar91  +   792d ago
Can anyone blame these companies for doing annual releases? The games still sell over 2 million worldwide is the first week or so. People keep buying them so not sure how everyone is saying there tired of AC games if they sell millions each time a new installment is released.
RedDeadLB  +   792d ago
This franchise has become exhausting enough to go on a big 2-3 year long break. You know Ubisoft, maybe letting players develop a desire for the next game in the franchise is a good thing. I'm already at a point where I couldn't care less for AC.

"Ubisoft: Gamers want Assassin's Creed every year"

They're doing what people say I do all the time. "gamers want". They talk as if it's ALL of us that wants one every year. It's like Call of Duty. Most of us hate that because

a) it's every year
b) not enough time spent on them
c) silly children play it

I'd hate to see assassin's creed become the same way.

This will become the next COD soon enough.
m-s-8-2  +   792d ago
There's an obvious and simple solution. I like the series so I buy it every year when I can get it cheap. You think it's being milked? Buy the numbered sequels only and skip the others.

Crazy? I know...... But it just might
work.
phantomexe  +   792d ago
I'll love them and yea i want one ever year.To me they only get better.
akaFullMetal  +   792d ago
ive loved the assassin creed games, but im getting tired of the franchise. I have 3, and ive only played 10 minutes.
InTheLab  +   792d ago
Same here. The kenway missions pacing is horrible. Made it to land. ..and did more tedious things. Ejected it and traded it in...

Total waste.
Kennytaur  +   792d ago
Patience can't be your strong side if you didn't even finish the rather short Kenway part.
InTheLab  +   792d ago
@Kenny

Short as in 2 hours too long? It's too long dude. That ship section went on forever. AC is running on fumes at this point.

It all goes back to the issue of pacing. You need to give the player something and that mini assassination early on is not enough.

They should call it, "History: the game" instead of assassin's creed..

The ganes are terribly overrated. The combat is easy as hell, there aren't any real stealth options (Tomb Raider was more of a stealth game than all of the Assassin's Creed games) and the story went from intriguing to terrible because they make every game end on a cliff hanger in order to leave room for another
edenianrain  +   792d ago
Who the heck wants ac every year, I love ac but come on any idiot can tell that after brotherhood the games are getting stale and the first one was boring so that only leaves 2 and brotherhood as the good games in the series, not to mention that the stories sent getting any better either, hey ubisoft gamers also want beyond good and evil 2,a prince of Persia 08 sequel, rayman legends to be released now,but you dont even lift a finger for those so please shut up.
Red_Devilz  +   792d ago
Correction: Gamers want AC-II like experience every year and not AC-3 like experience.
NYC_Gamer  +   792d ago
They must do since the sales continue to be strong as heck
KaBaW  +   792d ago
I don't want one every year, although every year and half would be better.
So you would get 2 in three years. But, I'm okay with how it is, for the most part.
As long as the games remain to be good.. I get them at my own pace, anyway.
