Heather explores the female protagonist in video games.
Bring back Nariko!
This so much, sure she is dead after the original but i remember NT saying "Dying is not the end of the story in HS universe", damm and that sounded like a sequel. On topic, as long as the player character isnt meant to represent the player (RPGs for example) i cant play as female, role playing isnt really the same without an avatar that match your gender. I dont mind playing TR because Lara is meant to be her own character.
All for it. I just hope that they employ some talented female writers to make or consult with over over the characterizations. Not saying that a man can't write believable woman character but I think with the extra input in the industry more depth and nuance can be brought to the protagonist. -And their will be less focus on the sexy polygons. -an it may make her more identifiable to the growing female gamer Population. Anyway, Samus needs 2 to 3 titles just like Mario. Metroid 3D, Metroid 2D, and a better Other M.
Im all for it but don't place a female protagonist where she doesn't need to be. If she fits the role and it makes sense then by all means let the female protagonist live.
I would love to be able to choose for a female in Battlefield 4 .Even one of the vg models activision just one hope its in the next CoD.
Can't wait to see those stupid comments about how one's masculinity is a stake if they play as a female in a game lol. Anyway, yeah, bing 'em on indeed, would be a nice change of pace from the "I can't believe it's not Christian Bale" staple we get in our main heroes now a days.
If the female characters are developed and interesting good if they are female for the sake of being female that really defeats the purpose doesn't it? Very good article.
Beyond Good and Evil would be pretty much the epitome of 'fantastic game that nobody bought' and you could probably pin that on the fact that it had a female lead. These publishers are not crazy you know. They know their market.
Sure why not, lots of good female characters out there. But let's not force it shall we. "If the female characters are developed and interesting good if they are female for the sake of being female that really defeats the purpose doesn't it? Very good article." -whamlollypop7 Couldn't be arsed to quote you but pretty much.
I've been wanting for a MGS with The Boss as the main character since i finished MGS3.
Bring em on some of my favorite characters like elika, farah, jade,Lara croft, samus, and kya were female so im all for .ore female protagonist.
Aveline de grandpre was pretty good in AC3:Liberation on the Vita. A lot of people ( going by some of the concept art ) were surprised by the turnout and so was I.
