The 3DS is Set to Become a Powerhouse

Nintendo, whatever you are doing with the 3DS please keep it up. I don’t know if any one else has realized this, but the 3DS is finally starting to find itself in the Handheld gaming market. It had to take a few tumbles, but the state of the 3DS seems to be strong. I know a lot of people reading this will probably disagree with that statement. However, over the course of this article I hope to change their minds.

I love my 3DS and Vita. Definitely want to support the handheld market so that phones won't take over gaming lol.

Haha Well said I have a console PS3 but I also have a Vita so I support handheld gaming market too so that Mobile "Casual" angry bird/temple run Gaming wont take over. Let's keep them at bay as long as we can. We need "Console Quality" games on handheld not games that doesnt have much story and the goal is to have a "HighScore". very innovative and ahm "Old" school I might say. Regarding playing just for Scores. I have an Ipod touch and jailbroken it to play all the good games on iOS, I found some, Hero of sparta, Modern combat 1,2,3 Dungeon Hunter, FF3 but still I would rather play this in a device with a special parts in it called "Buttons".

I agree. I've always loved handhelds.

Love my 3DS....decided to get a psp a few months ago and love that too.

Eventually in probably 2 years I'll get a Vita once it has a ton of games on it.

No reason I shouldn't be able to appreciate and love both systems.

I agree. IMO, Nintendo has been much more active with the 3DS than they have with previous generations. I personally haven't seen them pump out as much first party content as they have with the 3DS in a similar time frame. Nintendo fans are usually used to 2-4 year waits for the really big stuff, but Nintendo has done a great job of keeping the games coming at a regular, frequent pace.

In terms of third party, we're starting to see things wake up there a bit, as well. The JRPG's are back, and fan-favorite games such as Ace Attorney are getting western releases. Oh, and there has been such a dramatic decline in shovelware. A quick glance at the 3DS' shelf space makes that obvious IMO.

Overall I think the 3DS is getting better and trending up. We haven't seen its best yet, IMO.

I have a ton of physical and digital titles on the 3DS. I haven't played this much on a handheld since the original GB! This year alone I already got FE:Awakening, Castlevania, MH:Ultimate and Luigi's Mansion, with more on the way...

Project X Zone, Mario & Luigi Dream Team, DKC:Returns-3D, Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Super Smash Bros. (Tentative Title), Monster Hunter 4, Shin Megami Tensei IV, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy, Dragon Quest VII, and Pokémon X & Y.

That's a pretty damn good line up and isn't even the complete list for 2013/2014 window, makes me excited for e3/Nintendo Direct!
