Gamers Are Upset Over the Treatment of Women, but for All the Wrong Reasons

With the Game Developers Conference in full swing, a lot of developers feel the need to impress fans and game journalists by throwing swanky parties. Mojang, the studio behind everyone’s favorite LEGO-set-disguised-as-a-video- game, Minecraft, threw their own party under the title “.party0” that included an appearance by Skrillex.

But there was controversy brewing, and it had nothing to do with questionable taste in music. (Culture)

Joy first comment on article taking note from that attention seeking idiot Anita Sarkeesian and her pacific youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watc... ) video owned by a Sony troll couldn't of asked for a better start.

Btw Thunderf00t shot this clearly moronic argument apart for all of you that care: http://www.youtube.com/watc...

Agree, I think the problem with the boobs is that the boobs start talking about boobs for no reason, then boobs take it in a boobs way
OcelotRigz  +   386d ago
I completely agree, very well said. So true.
DeadSpaced  +   386d ago
I'll be honest. After mentioning boobs for the third time, I zoned out.
chukamachine  +   386d ago
So much fun could be had with those ladies, I could leave the games for abit.
profgerbik  +   386d ago
Problem is who cares, when those same women will gladly take your money just to get paid to walk around.

I could understand if they were being mistreated but how is it any ones fault when they are probably models who sit around waiting for a call? Who cares if they were paid or not, definitely nothing new models just being paid to look pretty.

Goes both ways, you can't have all this talk about women and equality but then those women could give a shit about being equal.

Not to mention that many of them enjoy this type of stuff..There's a small number of honest women, the rest use their bodies and they're gender to conquer their goals.
NegativeCreep427  +   386d ago
"There's a small number of honest women..."

I.e. the fat and fuglies that only hate and defame these "portrayals" of women because they cant strut around and get attention like these women do.

I found this article didn't get straight to the point. In fact it felt a bit insecure with said topic mater. It's nice to be attractive & play shallow for nerds & get paid for it should have ultimately have been the point! This isn't a criticism, just an observation...

WUTCHUGUNNADO  +   386d ago
That's what paper bags are for... it works equally for men. BUT DAYUM... I'd procreate.

Most women are.
Which is why you never spend the night and let the morning sunshine hit their face while you're with them.

There's more than one type of female in the world...
The more you idiots keep clicking these sexist (yes, that's what it is--it puts women on a self-pitying-pedestal that divide's the sexes instead of dealing with the real, actual gender issues that need addressing in gaming), the more u click these articles, and give them high hits, the more they will keep fabricating more stories to get more money through hits.

Don't click. Not until they realize that the ONLY fair way to represent women is to represent ALL KINDS of women (weak, strong, timid, powerful, evil, good, motherly, neglectful, etc), not ONLY just the strong, perfect type of women that feminists so desperately want to see being white washed as the only, definitive kind of woman that could ever exist.

Trading in scantily-clad women in exchange for super-women is like trading in one lie for another. There are ALL kinds of women in the world, and if feminists were being honest with themselves, they would realize that gaming represents all types of men and women types (from Tough women like the new Lara Croft, to boss-lady's like Fem-Shep, and even cold hearted women like Ultemicia from FF 8 all the way to women who do nothing to help themselves out of a bad situatuion, expecting some guy to "save" them, Like Princess Peach). There are all types of women in the world. Just like there are with men. Not just what the feminists conveniently want to see.

Not only the strong perfect... You soooo failed their. They are not strong or perfect. They are taking the path of leased resistance for making money which your point does not apply to. No offence. But all women like men have their strength's & weaknesses.
Donnieboi  +   386d ago
I don't have any idea what u are talking about. I don't think u understood my message at all...

I said:
"There are all types of women in the world. Just like there are with men. Not just what the feminists conveniently want to see."

So when u say: "But all women like men have their strength's & weaknesses."

How is that contrary to what I already said? Did I confuse you? lol.

There are exceptions, but for the most part women in games are almost always designed with the "lonely male virgin" demographic in mind. You can deny it all you want, but that's the very reason you see booth babes at E3 (and you never see "booth dudes").

The real problem with feminists is that they get things COMPLETELY backwards. Women in games are not depicted that way because that's the way men see all women. They are depicted that way because that's the way developers see all male gamers.

THAT is what is actually offensive about all this. That they so often think that all we care about is boobs and/or explosions. I can assure everyone, though, that our love for boobs and explosions is only one facet of our being. I like looking at well rendered boobs and butts as much as the next guy, but it needs to stop being the lynchpin of female design in the industry.

You are right. I did not pay enought attention to your point & I am sorry for that. It's the point of ' not only the strong, perfect ect. Point that had thrown me, as I do not see this as being the case (that confused me.) your point being bigger.
Just think Fat Princess.... It is the way to go. LoL...
You made a very good point.

The fact is, men and women are not equal. The sooner this generation grows some thicker skin and gets on with real life, the better society will be.
BABY-JEDI  +   386d ago
Grow up & realise your not menstruating
ShaunCameron  +   386d ago
Thank you. Nature made man and woman to serve different purposes but ultimately compliment each other in the end, hence equal worth.

To be honest, equality = lowest common denominator. I think PS3 owners have seen how that idea worked out in practice with a lot of multiplatform games that graced their console.
Magaman  +   386d ago
OH MY GOD, girls were paid to be at a party, it's the end of the world. People need to get over this whole issue. Not only does every industry use "sex" to sell. But it's not like this stuff just started happening overnight. People need to stop making a deal out of NOTHING. There are a lot BIGGER issues in this industry and this world besides BOOTH BABES.
GAMERS are upset?
Sure...But not over the treatment of women. I think you're talking about betas like Adam Sessler. Gamers are upset over people like Adam ruining games because of political correctness.
