The latest edition of MCV magazine states that Wii U sales in the United Kingdom rose by almost 125 percent last week, according to retailers.
Get dat dirt of ya shoulda :P.
I was calling this over a month ago when anti-Nintendo fanboys and haters were banking and celebrating on the low NPD sales forecast. I said "There was plenty of interest in the Wii U and people were just waiting for game." "On the week that Lego City and Monster Hunter Tri come out, sales are going to spike for the Wii U." It happened 100% as common sense predicted. So long as Nintendo brings the games that people want to play, they have nothing to even remotely be worried about from the PS4,Durango or anything else. Funny thing about this is that none of the aforementioned games are Nintendo I.P.s which all of the haters claim is all that can sale on Nintendo hardware.
Wow the price really helped! My hat goes off to those retailers in the UK for slashing the price. ;)
Hate to burst your bubble, but 125% brought their weekly total to just under 10K - you can check Neogaf for the exact amount. They cut 150 pounds off the price and had a major software release and that's all they got. Vita went from 10K to 60-80K in one week. That's a sign of momentum. This is just another breath on life-support. Also note that Nintendo scheduled a meeting with UK STORES as a RESULT of the DISAPPOINTING results from the price-cut. How selective minds can be.
Great stuff! Can't wait for E3!
Why did I get dislikes? Oh wait, it's N4G.
Huh. That's a pretty solid boost. Oh well, still doomed, right guys?!
LOL, where's all the haters at? Oh wait, positive Wii U news.
They are to angry and can't think of anything to say, so they are just hammering us with disagrees and bubble downs instead.
Well its still too early to tell. But the Wii U has to keep increasing its sales plus Nintendo needs to release several heavy hitters this holiday season to combat the launch of the PS4 and the 720. If the PS4 and the 720 are even close to the Wii Us price then Nintendo has to drop the price as well.
and that is Super Mario 3D Mario Kart Wii U Zelda Wind Waker HD Reborn and few unannounced games Seriously PS4 will have a tough time against Mario.
Yeah it's just UK who increased which had really low sales already.IMHO nintendo is going to be but hurt this time.
Its just the UK? The UK is where they were doing worst and what most people were focusing on the hardest when trying to bash Nintendo for the past few months. Its funny how the importance of something can do a complete 180 when circumstances change.
I take it you didn't actually read the article? 'The dramatic sales boost was due to the launch of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, plus HMV slashing the price of the Wii U Premium console with Nintendo Land and ZombiU by £140.'.
10K. I'm not a Wii U hater either, just a realist. No sure why you're celebrating that. Next week it'll be back around 5K.
lol trying not to hate but hating that it sold betta
I said "solid" not "amazing." More Wii Us being sold, even if only 10k is hardly a bad thing for the system. What Nintendo should do is entice developers to get more games released on the platform so as to keep the momentum.
Just wait until they start showing off some new games, all the fools disrespecting Nintendo will have some humble pie to eat....mmmmmMmmm
well what do you expect. retailers have dropped the price to almost clearance bin pricing. this is just 6 months after release. what's next Nintendo giving them away for nothing.
ONE retailer did. Plus, that retailer (HMV) is in administration too. They were selling them off at clearance prices to clear their own debts. It has nothing to do with Nintendo.
You fanboys are hilarious, trying to find any bit of negative news about Nintendo. You all have sad lives, really.
I am confused what do they base the sales off of? I don't see any numbers anywhere or even proof that the sales have in fact went up. Are we just suppose to believe it? Without any proof at all? It wouldn't be to supprising Monster Hunter usually does raise sales up abit for a week. I would of just like to seen scan's or even a link.....
Retailers knocked a big chunk off to shift them and fanboys say this isn't negative??
Only HMV knocked that big chunk off and they are in administration. They did it to gain some money back to clear their debts. Stop spinning this news. This won't be sustainable anyway as the numbers will fall back next week. This increase is due to HMV reducing the price.
Yes, just HMV.... And Shopto (who said it wasn't working)... and Amazon.... and Gamestop... and Asda....
How can MORE people owning Wii U's be negative? TIP: It can't!
He's not saying owning a Wii U is a negative. he just saying that by dropping the Wii U price within six months is a negative sign. Its like the 3DS all over again. When the 3DS was released it was not that more powerful than the DS, the only difference is the 3D. The price was high so no one thought they needed a 3DS, until Nintendo drop the price. The Wii U is in a very similar situation. Wii U is more powerful than the Wii, in addition to the tablet. But there aren't a lot of games for it on release so no one felt that they needed a wii u. I would not count Wii U out...until the next gen is released anyways.
flawless victory for Nintendo
That is very interesting news as I walk past the hvm in Manchester and no where were they saying they had slashed anything off the Wiiu and with them being in administration we don't see any adverts in the paper or tv so I don't see HMV having a massive impact on the Wiiu sales. I think it will be monster hunter that will of do that plus Lego city come out today in the uk so sales should be up again. I got my copy delivered yesterday and im impressed with it. The developers have done a good job with this game and I hope it sells well and it starts to become the gta game of Nintendo.
Lego City. Hopefully it keeps bringing people in over time.
Lego City is in no way a system seller.
You don't know that
In the UK it's selling consoles. From several places, I've read that it was highly anticipated.
How can this game be highly anticipated? It's a lego game...there really isn't much depth to it.
wii u cost about 480 In the UK.they dropped it to around 350 like we pay. so this is good news because sales jumped up in America to and it didn't get any price cut just good games. they need to lower the price in the UK.
IM not sure where you shop but the Wiiu has never cost that much in the uk I got mine for £300 from very the day it came out and its been £320 for the pro since day one. Check zavvi out for prices.
All the Wii u needs is more games and sales will skyrocket
Lilbrox get Nintendo's milk out of u its disgusting. Instead of selling 5 they sold 12 and your rejoicing Lol the numbers are on neo GAF and they arent impressive p, sorry, Not hating just spitting facts. They had to drop a big chunk to enliven get this low numbers.
