Why Tekken Is One Of The Best Beat Em Ups

For one moment, cast your mind back to the great year of 1994 where we saw the release of Sonic & Knuckles, Earthworm Jim and System Shock. You'd also remember a beat-em-up that still, to this very day has been churning out awesome sequels, has a huge following and rivals the greats such as Street Fighter, Dead or Alive and Virtua Fighter. It's had several animated films, one live action adaptation, and comics as well as its own museum in Osaka-Japan. Yes, we're talking about Tekken or as the Japanese named it '鉄拳' meaning "Iron Fist" as some of you might already know. (3DS, PS2, PS3, PSP, Tekken, Wii U, Xbox 360)

I have always preferred Tekken over Street Fighter, I enjoy both but I'm more a Tekken kinda guy :)

Of all fighters I prefer the MK story the most, but in terms of gameplay Tekken is my favorite.

I got to say in terms of gameplay i give it to Guilty Gear and Blazblue. I just love them series so much.

Games like tekken don't fall in the beat em up category.
liban-ali  +   854d ago
Then what category should it come under?
Venox2008  +   853d ago
fighting, beat em up game is like Castle crashers, TMNT:Turtles in time
Hicken  +   853d ago
Streets of Rage is a classic example of the beat-em-up.

Now, some Tekken games have a beat-em-up MODE included, but the game itself is a fighting game.

in india there are bunch of famous games like king of fighters, street fighter ex plus, tekken in the 2000 .....and tekken was my fav. tekken was one of the reason i was beaten up by father father once.when i was a kid/novice in tekken i used to learn moves on my landine phone buttons(specially kings grappling moves). i bunked schools to play this game. there are lot of memories attached to this game. but after tekken tag. it became more realistic which was a bad thing for me. but still best VS game ever for me.

My Fav. Tag----Devil and Heihachi
i still hold the record for most wins n my region i.e. 186 to none

Tekken's gameplay is just awesome. There is no fighting game as good as Tekken....Well, until April, when Injustice: Gods Among Us arrives. Then we'll have 2 top tier fighters, on par with one another.
