GameStop is offering a deal that may be intriguing to you the gamer.
Even at 50% extra, that is still 100% less than what they SHOULD give you! HA!
Oh goooddd. Instead of .50 cents, you'll get $1.00 /s
@zeee 50% of .50 cents is .25 cents. Making that .75 cents. Not a dollar. FAIL
Yes, you are right! I can't believe I made that mistake! Could probably have to do with the fact that I was in bed and sleepy and wasn't thinking straight. Still, thanks for correcting me there so let me do this again: "Oh goooddd. Instead of .50 cents, you'll get $0.75 /s"
Are you saying they should just give you $50 for a game you paid $60 for? Do you not realize this is a business?
NO, but giving you $20 for a game thats a week old and then selling it for $5 less than a new retail copy is pure highway robbery. Gamestop WANTS you to dump your week old game, because giving $20 is more than likely still $15 less than paying the publisher for another new copy. thats why there's DLC included on the disc, online passes, crappy rehashes and very few new IP's and other assorted crap, thanks gamestop.
So you paid $60 for a game they should give you $40 for it ? How does that make sense ?
They would still be MAKING $15 off the game, so how does it NOT make sense? Furthermore, how does selling a $60 game used for $55 make sense? And third, why is everyone defending Gamestop's shady business practices all of the sudden? I get it, business is business, sure. But getting ripped off is still getting ripped off. The point of my original comment is that trading a game in for 50% more credit is STILL a rip off. I think MOST sensible people would agree...
It should appeal to lazy or cautious gamers who don't wanna use Craigslist or Kijiji.
Gamestop is a rip off
gamestop is a great store that i have always loved, i would have to buys like 4 brand new games to get twenty dollars worth
Aaannd eBay is still better after fees
During these promos I've gotten as much as $40 for a single game. They typically only give small amounts for old games that have much less resale value.
What JohnnyCojones said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^ People keep telling me it's a 'rip-off' to play-and-trade at GameStop, but when I am picking up nearly all of my games at a half or a third of their cost, I am failing to see how I'm losing money. For example, last week I was on vacation and was looking for a new game to play, so I traded in Dishonored (which I had completed 2 playthroughs of) and Silent Hill: Downpour (Which never held my attention)and with a 10% trade in Bonus on both games, I walked away with Crysis 3 for $11... and before you tell me I traded in 2 games and got one.. I didn't pay full price for either Dishonored which I got for $20 with trade ins, or Silent Hill, which I got for free with trade ins, once the price dropped to $18 used.. Maybe some players don't find the value in being a member of GS but for some, like me, it pays it's dividends.
I don't think anyone will tell you that you traded 2 games for 1. After you elaborated, by my count, you've traded at least 6 games to get Crysis 3. At least 2 to get Dishonored + $20 + At least 2 to get Silent Hill + Dishonored + Silent Hill + $11 = Crysis 3 I totally understand not letting old games collect dust. If they're never going to be played again, of course sell/trade them! ...But Gamestop membership paying dividends? The numbers tell a different story.
I'm so done with gamestop and these deals is not good enough for me to go back.
