A Look Back To The Original Gears of War

MasonicGamer.com: Gears of War: Judgement has come out and the general consensus is that this is one to miss. Apparently it doesn’t stack up against the polished perfection of the previous entries. Well is this fair? Or has rose tinted nostalgia (for 2006) placed the first entry onto an unreasonable pedestal. I get to play with fresh eyes and find out. (Gears of War, Xbox 360)

I remember holding of buying a 360 as Halo 3 wasn't due out till 2007, Gears put paid to that! Awesome game/franchise.

Best online Gears experience I ever had. Fuel Depot, mansion, Canals to name but 3 great levels.

Gears 1 was a classic multiplayer experience. Helped along in no small partby the lack of a proper party chat function which usually lead to good ol' fashioned lobby banter, which in turn further bolstered the desire to win.

I'm enjoying Judgment multi on the whole, just wish the lobbies would get a bit more traffic. Tickers need a nerf too, they're effin mentle in overrun.

Party chat ruined competitive games on Xbox. It is an awesome feature, but all games are now quiet as heck. I can't remember the last time I heard someone talk in a game.

Forget the cover system, it usually gets shot down as being 'stolen' from Kill Switch anyway, it was the little things that really impressed me like the reloading mini game and the camera animation for the rodie run sprint, that was next level immersion. And those exploding heads from sniper head shots :)

Unforgettable game.
