GAME Randomly Adds £10 To The Price Of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate

UK retailer GAME have made the strange move of adding £10 to both the Wii U and 3DS versions of Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate.

The Wii U version was originally up for pre-order at £41.99 with the 3DS version costing £29.99. Oddly after the release of both games, the costs of each went up. The Wii U version not costs a staggering £49.99 and the 3DS version costing a burning £39.99. There has been no real reason given to why the prices have went up so sharply.

GAME are just insane. In my own town they sell games for more, peripherals for more, consoles for more, second hand games for more and offer LESS for second hand games than THREE other shops in the same precinct. What the HELL do they think the outcome of that will be?

GamerEuphoria1195d ago

It's odd they are still doing this kind of thing given how close they came to going under last year. The lies are what bothered me. 'Not in stock' Yes...why i had a copy in my hand at the counter!

iamgoatman1195d ago

I noticed after GAME nearly went under and was eventually bought my local one in Hereford actually became WORSE. They were never the cheapest on new games, but at least you could find a good deal in the used section. Not anymore! Someone literally went around adding anywhere from £5-£10 to everything, and they expect to actually do better. They're a joke.

They're the Gamestop of Britain. And even we have Gamestop here in the UK, so you can see what that tells you.

GamerEuphoria1195d ago

Gamestop is in Ireland i believe, so it has no retail presence on the level that GAME has. Shame really, more competition would be nice.

Tip - if you sell a game at... GAME... They will give you £5 extra if you put it toward a pre order.

I sold DOA5 in there the other day now that it is free on PS+ and was amazed... I actually ENJOYED going in there! The store had been moved around to make more space, for one.

Sold DOA5 for £33 and the guy was like "You can get £38 if you pre order". So £38, put £5 on Bioshock which I can cancel and claim back after Tuesday. Got Tomb Raider, new for £25, still have £13 to spend in store, quite a result considering I still have DOA5.

Just as well I suppose considering their expensive prices. Didn't see a single Wii U game for any less than £45!

TheSaint1194d ago

But you'll probably end up paying £5 to £10 more for the actual game.

I saw Far Cry 3 in tesco for £37 and it was £45 in GAME.

Also, the staff act like they are Gods gift to gaming, when in reality they are just a fucking tool.

Pre-order discounts aren't exactly new.

iamgoatman1195d ago

This isn't a discount, it's a price increase.

kwyjibo1195d ago

So after the pre-order window is up, the game goes up in price?

Semantics.

PopRocks3591195d ago

...Wat. That's pretty cheap. Do other retailers do this? I can't imagine what extending the price range will gain outside of a short term extra profit.

GamerEuphoria1195d ago

In my local area GAME is pretty much next to a another game store (Grainger games) they both compete for the market. Grainger are selling both games at the normal price while GAME ask for extra ten pound. They had a full batch of copies at GAME so I'm guessing no one bought it from there

SkullBlade1691195d ago

Another thing to add to the list of reasons why GAME is dying.

GrantXL1195d ago

Game has always been shite. Wouldn't expect anything less.
