GC: "We are getting enough clues on what Kojima is planning as we reach closer to GDC where he will talk about the Fox Engine."
man....all questions will be answered. i don't want to even bother making assumptions, but I do know Kojima has been teasing us with photo realism before.
JM being CG is the most absurd thing I have heard today. Some people need to get their eyes checked
Agreed, It's ridiculous. We don't even have the technology right now to make a person look that realistic. I bet the people who believe that theory still believe in Santa Claus.
Yes, let's waste the world premier of a lifelike CGI character on Spike TV.
@Turqoisekiller Fast forward to the 8 min mark http://www.youtube.com/watc... The tech is there
@cyguration Yeah, but even that doesn't look like real life, it looks super good, I'll give you that, but if you think we are at the point of ultra-realistic graphics you are dead wrong.
A better video to photorealism ..It would be fantastic to see if Kojima has indeed used some orientation of this tech in his engine http://www.youtube.com/watc...
I am computer-generated.
@cyguration That still looks fake though, not on the level of realism that this 'allegedly' CG Joakim Mogren is.
I still don't think this is CGI, but that picture is still pretty funny.
True I watch the interview and I saw little bits of the guy's hair sticking thought the wrap. If it's CG, it's impressive!
If it is CG, it is better than Avatar, because the skin slides on top of the bone structures. It is not CG, and the fact we are even discussing it somehow befuddles me.
@hesido: the fact that people are disagreeing with you indicating that they believe it's CG is aneurism inducing.
Another GAF original. The speculation blows the mind like a hotair balloon. I need a break from that place... Nah.
Just no, its not CG, there is no compelling evidence. The major thing to look at is eye's, CG will always make eyes to glossy, and you just know when someone is real, which he was, a real person
I bet my account on the mummy being computer GFX.
Oh myyy ... This GDC could blow minds!
Obviously Joakim was a real person. He was just wearing bandages as an obvious reference to the guy from the phantom pain.
people were actually thinking this guy was CG?
Yeah, can you believe we are even discussing it?
I can't understand the agree / disagree disparity here.
It's the gullible minds of the internet. Sad really.
The basement dwellers have officially lost touch with reality and what an actual person looks like. It's sad.
It's worse: People is CONVINCED he's CG.
For Joakim, to be wearing a head wrap. It would be cheap and cheesy stunt while trying to debut something for next generation on what suppose to be a flagship game from an elite studio. There has been many reference in the main stream media about facial technology getting better. Nvidia made news with there: Nvidia Face Works Tech Demo; Renders Realistic Human FacesDemo. Link: http://youtu.be/CvaGd4KqlvQ It almost makes sense for Hideo Kojima to go thru this elaborate stunt to showcase his facial technology to at least one up Nvidia recent announcement. But we will see come GDC...I believe it's CGI.
I've never anticipated a GDC so much before.
Kojima san and Battlefield 4 :) All shall be revealed at GDC!
Joakim Mogren is an anagram of Joker M Gamin or if you like. Gamin joker M. Or better yet Mr. Gamin Joke
Sorry, missed the second O His full name is Joakim N. Mogren Anagram. Mr. No Joke Gamin
J O A K I M K O J I M A You sir, have been trolled.
N4G gets article with headline based on crazy 4Chan discussion. Almost as bad as the 4Chan discussion on PS4 specs that said it will have 16GB XDR ram and 16PPEs and 128 SPUs and two Kepler GPUs in SLI... In other words, the man isnt CG !
For the love of God, use some logic people... Why would it be CGI? You've seen the Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain videos right, you've actually seen how the models done with FOX Engine looked... right? So, again, why would that be CGI if we ALREADY know what FOX engine looks like, and what it's capable and not capable of? The truth is, for such an IMPRESSIVELY detailed facial simulation, you'd need something like a VOLTA series of Nvidia's next-gen GPU's... which are due out in friggin' 2016. Hoping is one thing but don't throw your logic out of window when you do that.
To be fair GZ trailer was supposed to have been running on specs similar to the ps3.
That's true but I still find it hard to believe that it's something that can be rendered by PS4/Nextbox's hardware. Have you guys watched the Nvidia's GPU conference? They showcased something like this: http://goo.gl/rnG5X It's something we're "supposed" to have in the next couple of years, and yet it doesn't look just as impressive as the so-called Joakim CGI. And I'll tell you why: because it's a friggin' real person.
Yup you got that right sir. Joakim is a real person not cgi. because in todays movies we cannot even see such films with real like cgi. avatar is the closest well get as of now. Its really absurd how some people think hes cgi. he's real no doubt i would even bet my whole gaming collection on it. kojima is just trolling with people. im sure fox engine is super impressive. but lifelike? not in a couple of years
... The impossible made possible...
I've figured it out... Joakim Mogren is real... Geoff Keighley is Fox Engine.
The la li lu le lo???!!!
The ultimate Kojima troll will be when the mummy takes off his bandages and reveals himself to be Cliff bleszinski.
LMAO, on how we all have replied to this and just what they want
http://www.youtube.com/watc... Does anyone remember that from 2008? Because it's not in HD it doesn't look the best anymore, but back in 2008 it looked MUCH realer then. If we could get these results in 2008 I think it's possible that the guy is CGI afterall. And how come they never showed him and Geoff in the same frame at all? Not saying he IS CGI because it's probably not, but let's not just say "No it's not CGI" with certainty when you can never be too sure.
It's not CG. I say this with certainty because I am sure. If Pixar hasn't reached that level yet, if James Cameron hasn't reached that level yet, what makes you think video games have?
Pre-rendered photorealistic CGI IS possible at this moment. Pixar doesn't try to be photorealistic; they have their own art style. And James Cameron, for Avatar at least, did use top level CGI tech, but it wasn't a recreation of something that's real, it was of the Navi people. So we couldn't compare it with something in real life. Keep in mind, I'm not saying that Joakim was CGI. But what you say about it not being possible is incorrect. The key word is "Pre-rendered".
@Sourav93 Got any links? I'm interested. But what you're saying does reinforce my point.
Another thing: Here's a video. Keep in mind it's around 5 years old. Watch til the end to see what I mean. http://www.youtube.com/watc... and a higher quality "making of" : http://www.youtube.com/watc...
has the disadvantage of a being on a big screen in high resolution and that's just one of them. Video games has the better advantage of using smoke and mirrors....to deceive the human eye. A game is far more structured and an elite developer with the enough power can pull this off. We are entering a period in gaming where the holy grail is slowly being realized. The ultimate goal is to make you the gamer a more organic part of the game it self.
It's cg. The whole video gives off this whole "somethings not right" feeling. That's because your mind knows. That very last bit sealed the deal for me. Something about his expression just isn't right.
This is most definitely real. The lips and eyes give it away, not even Hollywood can get this high of realism yet. It gives that feeling because it was a mock interview that was probably practiced so they didn't act naturally and the last part just looks strange because the bandages are tight and are restricting facial movement. tl;dr Kojima's still trying to troll us.
You get that feeling because the guy is fake, he isn't a CEO, its just Kojima trolling you lol
Someone should just recreate the video without any effects and we'll see if they look similar.
GDC is gonna be greatness!
he is CGI look at his neck and the fact that his eyes look like he is on drugs show you all you need to know.
kojima, that troll xD
Am I the only one who doesn't give a fuck?
I don't think he was CGI. I'd blow my mind if it was, Troll-jima would get more of my respect for such an amazing stunt.
That's not possible. Seriously. Watch it... http://www.gametrailers.com...
They never show Keighley next to him though, it's just shot-reverse shot the whole way through. I don't know, there IS something weirdly uncanny about him.
I meant to agree... Sorry. -_-
That interview was done using the FOX Engine. Here is why. If the LA Noire facial tech could be done with the limited amount of ram on the PS3, and looking at how much ram and power they can now work with in the PS4... then it is very believable this Joakim interview was done with the FOX Engine. Anybody remember this? http://www.egmnow.com/artic... Kojima DID say they're shooting for realism and this IS next gen we're talking about. I believe that Ground Zeros trailer that was shown was running of the PS3 as Kojima has said. That shows us what the FOX Engine is capable of on PS3. This "Joakim" interview is a tech demo of what the FOX Engine is capable of on the PS4. The reason why Joakim was surprise at the end of the video is because that interview IS THE FOX ENGINE running on PS4 hardware!
That was Cliffy B. CG??? LMAO
You people are missing the big picture. Joakim isn't some CG creation, but a real, live, human clone. The bandages are just to hide the fact that he was cloned from a recognizable figure in human history.
One thing I don't understand, people claim it's a floating head, but you can clearly see the microphone at the collar of the shirt. Such as the one Geoff is wearing.
I swear we need a "stupid" bubble on N4G ... THAT GUY IS NOT CG ! look at the way his eye flickers and the way his lips moves, that's NOT CG .. my god why am I even trying to convince you people ! it's as clear as the sky is blue !
