Deux Ex: Human Revolution On Wii U Will Be “Definitive Version”

TSA: "Deux Ex: Human Revolution on the Wii U will be the “definitive version”, according to a statement this morning from Square Enix. Dubbed, the Director’s Cut, the Wii U exclusive version will feature plenty of GamePad goodness and lots of developer commentaries and in-game guides." (Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Wii U)

the best version with gamepad

Honestly people get used to ports for the Wii U. Not many studios are going to take the risk of making a game from the ground up for a system that isn't selling. As long as these ports are of great games and are the definitive version all round like Trine 3 or NFS MW for example, It's better than no games at all.

As much as I'd like them to be releasing current games like Tomb Raider (which the Wii U will likely get in 2016 at this rate!) I don't really have an issue with publishers porting good games and pimping them for the Wii U... If I haven't played the game before, it's new to me :)

Some ports are confusing as hell though, why are Codemasters porting that awful F1 Kart Racer instead of Grid or Dirt for example?
dangert12  +   984d ago
To be honest if it was on the wii u and it was not, there would be nothing to talk about as obviously it came out last they have had more time to create something better...potentially
pecorre  +   984d ago
Yay, another port, just what the Wii U needed!

Anyway, this is an awesome game and if for some reason you have not played yet buy it, it's very cheap now. You can find it for less than $20 on PS or x360 and for less than $10 on PC.
lilbroRx  +   984d ago
You can find it for those prices because it wasn't very good on those platforms. That why they are "improving" so much.

Why would people want to buy and inferior version of the game when they see that an all around better one is coming out?

Console deferment is what I will call this from now own. =trying to dissuade people to get another consoles version of a game than the one disliked by the deferer
DaPrintz  +   984d ago | Well said
That's garbage. The game was and is still great on whatever you can play it on.
mynameisEvil  +   984d ago
Yeah, no, the PC version is still the best. And it's cheap. And it's cheaper if you wait for it to go on sale, which it does occasionally. It controls better and it's more configurable. The only thing in this that I can see as a marketable improvement is the overhauled boss fights. Aside from that, it's some really minor stuff.

You can say, "BUT BETTA GRAFX," but you and I both know that the graphics are better comparative to other console versions, not the PC version.

Long story short: If people want to play this game, I highly recommend the PC version. Controls better, is optimized well, looks the best, and is potentially the cheapest.

"Why would people want to buy and inferior version of the game when they see that an all around better one is coming out?"

Because people won't buy a console to play a game that has been out for a year. Most of the people that were interessted in this game have already played it anyway. What the Wii-U needs are system sellers.
CGI-Quality  +   984d ago
Do you honestly believe the nonsense you type?

"Why would people want to buy and inferior version of the game when they see that an all around better one is coming out?"

Um, since there was no clue of a WiiU version a year and a half ago (when the game released), they would not suddenly dream it up. That version MAY be the best (content-wise, the PC game will still look better), but that doesn't mean people were twiddling their thumbs for it, either.

Over 3m in sales and a 90 metascore.

You can find it at those prices because the game came out in 2011.

@ lilbro Wow, just when I thought you couldn't surpass yourself.
Capt-FuzzyPants  +   984d ago
This game is honestly probably my favorite game of this gen. It still amazes me that this got beat out by Skyrim and a few other games for GOTY. Deus Ex:HR was the best game of that year and I think Uncharted also came out that year.
a_adji  +   984d ago
It's actually not a port. interview below.

sorry to upset you

WiiUsauce  +   984d ago
Yay, another baseless, Nintendo hate comment! Just what N4G needed!!

lol your comment is so full of uninformed fail. The game isn't just a simple port. The game is actually much better than it was on 360 and PS3 as CONFIRMED by Eidos Montreal.

Sure, you could pay 20 dollars for the game if you want a 20 dollar experience, but this game on Wii U is the definitive version, and not just because of the gamepad integration. The graphics are also better, shadows, lighting, and enemy AI are too.

These are all the improvements that have been made to an already great game to make it even better on Wii U:

-More than a port

-Eidos Montreal says it’s the “ultimate edition of the game”

-Eidos is working with Straight Right on the game

-Deus Ex’s boss battles were originally outsourced

-The three bosses have had their map layouts reworked to provide players with alternative potential strategies

-New hacking challenges are available to players who focus on hacking, and stealth options are available to those who focus on stealth

-Barrett’s map has been reworked to provide a second additional layer so Jensen can hide, forcing his foe to lose sight of him

-Energy system is more forgiving on Wii U

-Can have two energy cell recharge by default on all but the hardest difficulty

-Players can now use Jensen’s augmentation powers more freely

-Improved AI for enemies to include the tweaks made for The Missing Link downloadable expansion

-Enemy cone of vision has been retrofitted into the entire game for the Wii U version

-Missing Link DLC originally looked better than the main game since the developers were more comfortable with their tools when they came to create them

-Missing Link’s improved visuals have now been applied to Director’s Cut full game

-Anti-aliasing also wouldn’t work on the console but is in for Wii U

-GamePad used for new augmentation called Neural Hub

-The game’s Smart Vision augmentation, which allows players to see enemies through walls, was extended and fused with the GamePad, resulting in the Neural Hub

-Use the GamePad to see enemy health, armor type (heavy, medium, or light) and loot

-Can use the GamePad to navigate menus, display the map, augmentation system, inventory, etc.

-Swipe controls

-Grenade throwback: equip a proximity detector that alerts him to a nearby grenade

-If an enemy chucks a grenade at you, the GamePad will vibrate, and you can swipe the touch-screen to pick it up and lob it back

-Touch screen shows Jensen’s radar by default, which is a sort of hybrid between the main radar and the 2D map

-Can open the 2D map on the GamePad and use the stylus to write notes that will appear on the main radar screen

-Use the touch screen for the hacking mini-game

-Weapons that have a scope (ex: sniper rifle) will let you use your TV to center your target, then enter a precision mode using the touch-screen, which displays the cross-hair

-Around 8 hours of commentary from Eidos Montreal

-Icons dotted around the world can activate this voice over, and you’re free to continue playing as you listen

why would i want to get it on a ps3 or 360? when its coming to the wiiU = gamepad play = play facing any direction. either laying down, with elbows on knees looking down, under sheets while getting some and not to mention its special features. wiiU = creamer of consoles. ps4 and 720 better copy nintendo AGAIN and get a gamingpad of their own.

this is a great game, i found it kinda short, but it reminded me of my favorite game a lot while playing it, and that was shadowrun for the genesis, adam jensen just seemed like the perfect decker

Edit: my avatar on the 360 is dressed like adam jensen to, lol

nothing to see here moving on...

Even though is a great game and Wii U will have a better version of it, still an old game. Nintendo needs to be releasing new game or both not only old ports.
delboy  +   984d ago
It's not old for all those gamers that upgraded from wii.
They never played it, and now with wiiu they have a chance to play the best version.
lovegames718  +   984d ago
Omfg lol these ppl really dont give up spinning that PR talk to sell old games lol Like seriously stfu already lol

Yes like Bo2, Sega All Stars, Batman, NSFW, Ninja Gaiden and so forth were all definitive versions lol hahahhahahahahahahaha

No slight at Nintendo faithfuls these comments are more towards the devs. who are really full of shit and now use this term oh so easily to sell old games already released on Ps3/Xbox. And to be honest half of the time with the extra time, extra perks and so forth they rarely are the definitive version and perform worse.

Good example Ninja Gaiden for Wiiu even though a turd game supposedly was definitive version on Wiiu and now it is being re re released on Ps3 and performs better and is an all around better version and Wiiu had serious framerate issues.
stuna1  +   984d ago
^^^This^^^! Almost every ported game supposedly tooted to be the definitive version has performed worse! It's alright if some want to stick their heads in the sand, but stop pretending that all is well in Nintendo Land!

The WII U need games pronto! Not ports, but games tailored to take advantage of what the system has to offer.
GusBricker  +   984d ago
Damn, this game came out over 2 years ago.
InMyOpinion  +   984d ago
Maybe if they reprogrammed all the boss fights ;)

Only letdown I had while playing the "undefinitive" version.
Septic  +   984d ago
Oh man yeah....completely forgot about those, and for good reason.

RFornillos4  +   984d ago
have to admit my only complaint about the game was the boss fights, and lame AI... which according to the article those two have been addressed, so hopefully the improvements are enough to merit a buy, especially for those who haven't tried it out yet... also curious how hacking with the gamepad will work (efficiently). finally, this game can also be quite short, especially if you don't go for 100% completion.

it is a port, but i'm crossing my fingers it'll be a good port like NFSMW U.
Rask  +   984d ago
The PC version is the definitive.
lilbroRx  +   984d ago
How so when its just the same as the PS3/360 versions only with higher quality graphics?

Wait, I forgot that graphics are the most important thing on N4G and to modern gamers.

I still say this isn't really Deus Ex at all though. Its just a pale imitation of the first two that were made by Ion Storm. It does them no justice.
MrAnderson  +   984d ago
Because having everything the other versions have, with better graphics, framerate and mods makes it the definitive version...derp.
PopRocks359  +   984d ago
Why is there always a comment like this? They probably meant definitive console version. Duh.
WiiUsauce  +   982d ago
no. no, it's not. This version has updated enemy AI, overhauled boss fights, and a ton of improvements over all. the only thing the PC can brag about is better graphics, but the graphics on the Wii U version will still be good.
PopRocks359  +   984d ago
You know, I appreciate that it's a Director's Cut and they are saying it's the best console version (I mean heck, I still haven't played this game) so I might pick it up, but I still say getting a newer game like Tomb Raider would have been more beneficial.
LOL_WUT  +   984d ago
They are saying it's the best console version so I might pick it up
Oh, so now all the sudden you want it... ;)

The term "definite version" seems to be thrown around a lot lately for some Wii U games. Heres hoping it ACTUALLY is, this time around. Also, it should be priced accordingly if they want this game to even sell on that console.
PopRocks359  +   984d ago
I've been interested in the game since it came out actually, but it was never very high on my list. I'm thinking of checking this out since it's supposedly the best version.

Sorry that that offends you for some reason?
stuntman_mike  +   984d ago
get rid of the boss fights altogether and that will be the better version. it's an excellent game tho.
MegaLagann  +   984d ago
Well, those are some nice improvements. Guess will have to see if it's really the "definitive" version when it comes out. If so, I may pick it up. Never got around to getting Human Revolution, too many games at the time, so I guess now would be the perfect time. Still, though, it does kind of rub me the wrong way this game is almost two years old and is going to be 50 dollars, despite the improvements.
rjguess  +   984d ago
I hope the wii u does not turn into a system full of old ports.
bullymangLer  +   984d ago
i hope it does . . why is it a bad thing to play excitebike 64 on the gamepad??, or conkers bad fur day, or turok 64, or F-zeroX, or the mark of kri, or shodow of the colossus, or bayonetta 1, or any other OLD game on the gamepad? ha haaa wiiU= creamer of all consoles, current and incoming < fact
ylwzx3  +   984d ago
Nintendo was just completely stupid not to take all that money they made off the Wii & 3DS to invest in superior hardware. I just don't get their decisions...
