"If you’re into retro style space shooters along the vein of Galaga and Galaxian, you’re in for a treat. Plasma Sky, by Spikepit Games (the owner and primary developer is also a developer at Runic Games and has worked on Torchlight and Torchlight 2), combines wireframe art with modern visual effects to achieve a look that fits nicely between old school convention and modern eye candy. Underneath the visuals lay pseudo-hardcore gameplay mechanics that should appeal to both casual and hardcore shooter fans alike. The only complaint is a minimal amount of content, but this could easily be rectified with future updates." - David Markowitz
TTP:" Plasma Sky, the nice retro arcade space shooter game developed by John Dunbar released two years ago on the App Store, has received a new update today which adds a new play mode, new stages and more."
Triverse writes, "Overhead shooters have been reported as a dying breed around here for quite awhile but truth is, they are seeing a slight resurgence in the gaming world. Innovation is returning to the genre, no longer are developers simply relying on nostalgia to garner a purchase and download when they release a retro styled shooter. Spikepit Games have gone full on retro with Plasma Sky and have hit pay dirt in a big way."
AR: Who doesn’t like a little space shoot-’em-up to brighten up their day? Plasma Sky is a basic space shmup that thankfully nails the essentials and is a joy to control.
