Why Next Gen Games Need To Gimme Some Emotion

The next gen is on the horizon and games are becoming more interactive and cinematic, so is it wrong to expect an increase in emotional involvement? (Culture, Dear Esther, Final Fantasy, hatoful boyfriend, Mass Effect 3, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Portal 2, Resident Evil 6, Thomas Was Alone)
