Is the future of in-game customisation stuck behind a paywall?

Nobody can deny the popularity of customization within games. The market is huge, whether people are camouflaging their favorite gun or a piece of clothing for their toon.

The more players get involved, especially with games which have strong character progress and customization, the more players become invested in that character and will want that character to reflect their personality. (3DS, Call of Duty, Guild Wars 2, iPad, iPhone, Next-Gen, PC, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One)

Thats a 100% accurate article, and SUCKS because creativity is the only human aspect expressed in video games, all the rest is on rails.

I will suport developers who do not go this route.

The first Dev to give us Tons of customization without having to pay for it, all while being popular will make a ton of money.

I miss games that let me customize everything just because. Just for the fun of it.

It just sucks that almost every must have title will eventually be bought out by EA, Activision, or UBI. Those companies know how to take a good thing and choke the life out of it for a buck.

yup, in dead space 3 you can get things for you scavenger bots....if you buy the scavenger bot DLC. LOL what a bunch of crap. Im looking forward to selling my copy of DS 3 for more than I paid, it will even have the limited edition online pass and new game smell intact. I will be happy to take a sale away from them, and they have no right to get even 1 more cent from my copy of dead space 3 being sold used because its mine, just like a movie, book, shirt, car or used toothbrush.

DLC has been abused for far too long. It's time we as gamers say NO MORE! I don't know about anybody else, but I'm tired of buying a game only to realize I have to spend another $20-40 just to enjoy it fully.

This is what they did with Virtua Fighter. You had to but customization features for each character. What kind of crap is that?
