Five Great Examples Of In Medias Res In Games

There's nothing more insufferable than yet another stolid tutorial sequence. X to duck, Y to jump, RB to toss a grenade. It's always the same.

Here are five examples of games that buck that trend by tossing the player right into the middle of things using the time honored in medias res technique, which is Latin for 'into the middle of things' (Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Culture, Final Fantasy VII, Medal of Honor: Frontline, Silent Hill, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves)
