Neocrisis: Sleeping Dogs: Year of the Snake Review

Neocrisis: It's been a while since I played Sleeping Dogs as I got everything done, from collectibles to shrines, all the extra moves etc and managed to get Platinum in the main story of the game. With the release of the Year of the Snake DLC, it's nice to get back on to the streets of Hong Kong once again.

Ashamed to say that im one of those gamers thats always a game or 2 behind. Just started playing gears 3 and ive clocked in around 25 hours into gta4.

i suppose what im trying to say is, i cant freakin' wait to finally go out and grab my copy of Sleeping dogs months after its release lol. Demo was fantastic. Seems like its going to be a great game.

It really is awesome. Just the story and characters are enough to really enjoy it but its just fun to play. Highly recommend getting it.

I know I'll be lambasted for this...but I always like to keep ONE massive open-world game installed and modded out. It used to be GTA IV.

I uninstalled GTA IV after putting in nearly 20 hours into Sleeping Dogs...I knew which game I had fallen in love with. Sorry Rockstar, it was an affair worth pursuing.

Definitely feel like ill be in the same boat when the time comes. Im not a huge fan of anime or anything like that, but something about movies and games set in asian countries is just awesome. maybe its the stereotypical kung-fu combat system always put in place that im a sucker for, but man...to me theres just no open world like tokyo open world.
GTA4, i think is one of the most incredible games ive ever played, but man are the characters and environments pretty stale at this point. sleeping dogs pretty much seems like an evolved version of GTA4, set in a much more vibrant setting. cant wait to get my hands on it once i finish up a few things. Over the last few weeks i just had this massive itch for an open world game. Now GTA4s been great but by the looks of it im thinking sleeping dogs is where its at!

that's good I love this game, none of the DLC were interesting until this one. Unfortunately, I'm probably going to wait for a sale and buy all the story-ish DLC and play the game again.

It's A Crime That There's No Sleeping Dogs 2 Yet

Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."

LG_Fox_Brazil9d ago

I agree, I consider the first one a cult classic already

isarai9d ago

You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is

That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.

solideagle8d ago

Majority of the time it's true but if a company/publisher is big (in terms of money), they can take a hit or 2. e.g. I am not worried about Rebirth sales as Square will make Remake 3 anyway but if FF 17 doesn't sell then Square might need to look for alternative. <-- my humble opinion

Abnor_Mal8d ago

Doesn’t Microsoft own the IP now since they acquired Activision?

DaReapa8d ago

No. Square Enix owns the IP.

Abnor_Mal8d ago

Oh okay, Activision owned True Crime, but when that didn’t sell as intended it was canceled. Six months later Square Enix bought the rights and changed the title to Sleeping Dogs.*

Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

watching the video is better then going through 31 pages of gamingbolt.

Do they explain in the video why there are two numbers 3? Starfield and Tears of the Kingdom?

It's always refreshing to see games embracing the streaming community.

Bloodborne is a game I still restart and play every few months. I would welcome just a re release in 60fps with a visual upgrade. It's a perfect game. If I was king for a day I would include the randomizer mods because then it would be a kind of rogue like and I could play it forever.

gleepot355d ago

Sure, ill take a sequel to all of these.
