This Year’s Craziest Video Game Conspiracy Theory, the Uncanny Valley, and, Oh Yeah, Metal Gear

The next generation is around the corner. And with it, video gamers will get wrinkles, hair follicles, and pores like they've never seen before. Before we know it, the Uncanny Valley will become the new normal.

But, as some are wondering online, is it already here? And did we just watch a digital game developer give an interview on television?

The story is too old to be commented.

If the face of Joakim was made and animated with Fox Engine my mind will blow..

ANIALATOR1361730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

i find it almost impossible though as these photo proves it isn't CG

TheOneWhoIsTornApart1730d ago

No on said that he wasnt modeled after a real person so no it does not prove anything.

Mounce1730d ago

Why? They've done In-Room Tests before with this Horse orrrr say, Fox Engine and clothing fabric?

Left - Fox Engine (PES2014)
Right - Real

Make it easier to blur Reality and Fox Engine via Face-bandages to reduce needs of facial-quality and potentially give it away via Hair being Off by any means, so most hair is gone in the interview with Joakim.

It IS Believable....but, it still will be mind-blowing if true. If False? We'd move on and likely be blown away by the game itself.

I wonder why they would do it if it was not CG? What would be the real purpose? If in fact it is not, it will only be a big negative on the engine. But if it is, then this would be something real special, a great promotion on the engine...

My bet would be it is CG.

ANIALATOR1361730d ago

Good point though. The interview was completely useless and didn't divulge in anything important apart from Mogren saying about the GDC date which we already knew. It could have been just funny publicity to hype people for the event in our world of memes and such but it still seems odd

So why does your comment get +3 agrees and I get 2 disagrees for saying the same thing :/

N0S3LFESTEEM1730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

Kotaku would avoid linking to the video... now I have to google it myself to make my own assumption.

Edit: It's not CGI...

travelguy2k1730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

Joakim is an ananagram for Kojoma (same letters different order) someone else foirgure out what Mogren is ... Morgen?

Typical Kojima

ANIALATOR1361730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

well mogren has "ogre" in it. Remember that one of the projects was called ogre. It's a stab in the dark though.

N0S3LFESTEEM1730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

It has the same amount of letters as Konami which if you take all the letters that it shares with Mogren out leaves GRE and KAI... take G and K while counting them and that's 5 or 3 depending on if you want to count those letters with it. Take E and I and it's the same... 5 or 3. A through R equals 18 or 16... 3 divided by 18 = 6 and 16 divided by 3 = 5.3... now we'll do 18 divided by 5 = 3.6 which = 9 when added without the decimal and 16 divided by 5 = 3.2 which when added together without the decimal = 5

Lets get all our numbers together.
5 3 18 16 5.3 3.6 9 3.2
lets go back to the alphabet with those numbers...
7= G

Now the most prominent number being 5 it turns into this

LOL :3

bunt-custardly1730d ago

Not CGI and a joke created at the GAF. It's now TEAMCGI vs TEAMREAL.

xBigxBossx1730d ago

I think it's CGI. It would be a very Kojima thing to do. And with the video being brought so close to GDC... Kojima is sitting alone somewhere in the dark with a trolling "!" Above his head laughing.
