It is amazing how hard retailers are trying to get rid of their Wii U stock. Pretty depressing in my opinion.

Queasy4051d ago

Gift cards aren't a sign of retailers trying to clear out Wii U stock. They are a sign of Nintendo (who ultimately pushes for these kind of offers) trying to bump up Wii U sales.

Retailers typically turn to straight up discounts when trying to clear out stocks.

Donnieboi4050d ago

Nintendo asking retailers to provide gift cards? No. If it was Nintendo's idea, then it would be Nintendo doing the provisions, not the stores providing gift cards. If it was Nintendo, they would more likely ask the store to provide a game, rather than have the retailer fit the bill via a retail card. Let's not make excuses for Nintendo, okay?

BrianC62344050d ago

No, Target gives out a lot of gift cards instead of doing that. They probably have way too many Wii U's sitting around and need to clear space so they're giving out the gift cards.

lassenwolf4050d ago

bothebo,
Target and walmart does this all the time
You can hate or not buy a wiiu but it's not going anywhere. I bought an xbox at target years ago for 150.00 its was 200 bucks with a 50 buck gift card.
Playstation 3 the same thing.

asdlfkj3498as4050d ago

We do it all the time at Target. Except I haven't seen it done this early in a console life except maybe the Vita? After about 2-4 weeks at my store we just stopped selling them. I think we have over 10+ at my store.

I say just wait for the eventuall wii u price drop to 250 with free nintendo land game and nsmbu.

--Onilink--4050d ago

i think you are pushing your luck if you expect a $100 with an extra free game. If there is a price drop i doubt it would be more than $50-70, and definitely not an extra free game.

On the other hand, i dont think the price drop is too far away, my guess is that they are just waiting to hear the price of the next Xbox and PS4

ABizzel14050d ago

I think he's actually right.

Once again there's no way the Wii U cost more than $250 to develop, because a more powerful AMD A8 APU configuration can be built for $250.

I'm sure the Wii U will drop to $250 around September. They will be done with E3 and TGS, all their games will be known for the holiday and early 2014, big IP's should be releasing around that time, and it gives them likely 2 months sales boost head-start for the holiday season and against the PS4 and Nextbox.

A game like Nintendoland will likely come with a Wii U as a holiday bundle for those who wait a bit longer.

I do believe at some point the WiiU will get to that price but I think that's years away.

Gears of War: Judgment - 10 Years of Gears' Most Misunderstood Release

Gears of War: Judgment launched 10 years ago today, and quickly became one of the most misunderstood titles in the series.

ZwVw402d ago

Easily the best control-wise of the series. Judgment introduced melee-ing with the lancer and is still the only installment of the series (to date) which enables you to change weapons while roadie running simultaneously.

Gears 2&5 are the worst controlling in the series.

ocelot07402d ago

It killed the series for me tbh.

Sciurus_vulgaris402d ago

The Arcady aspects of the campaign should have been unlocked after completing a campaign play through. Seeing score screen after battles caused awkward pacing. The multiplayer was too different from other Gears games.

giovonni402d ago

Judgment felt more like an expansion than an actually game. To me, I was fatigued from the series at that point. The story was ok, over all it wasn’t bad.

Gears of War is my favorite video game franchise, and the Locust is my all-time favorite faction.

My rank list:
1. Gears of War 2
2. Gears of War 3
3. Gears of War 1
4. Gears of War 4
5. Gears of War 5
6. Gears of War Judgment (No Locust in multiplayer was a disgrace)

ChasterMies667d ago

Agree 100% with this ranking. The campaign in Gears of War 2 is among the most fun campaigns ever made. It’s been downhill from there.

Zombieburger638667d ago

I’d say gears 2 and 3 are pretty even. I absolutely loved both of them.

darthv72667d ago

2 is still my favorite but 5 is also up there (for me). Then I'd say 1, 3, 4 and Judgement. Tactics isnt the same type of game, so it seems odd to rank it among TPS when its a strategy game. So I make that one all its own. Pretty fun game too.

Jericho1337667d ago

The first is and has always been the best one imo - the story, the levels, the set pieces, the soundtrack - as close to perfect as a campaign can get.

I’d say the series had been on a continual downhill slide until 5.

Om4ever667d ago

Naaaan ... 2 is the best by far

Judgement

I love the series as a whole, but 4 was pretty by the numbers, and Judgement was just ok.

LoveSpuds667d ago

I played them all since picking up a Series X about 7 months ago. Personally, I don't think time has been kind to the earlier games and they feel very slow and repetitive to play. Whilst the newer games may be prettier, they stick with the original gameplay mechanics too much in my view so as a whole series of titles, I think they are pretty average games.

Not to say they weren't fun and I have a lot of nostalgia for 1 and 2, I just think there are far better action games out there.
