If this is true, there are a lot of N4G users that post here that should probably play video games a LOT more, based on the comments they write which show a distinct lack of cognitive ability.

Depends on the game, otherwise hell no it doesn't. I will slap the person that says playing call of duty for 5 hours a day will make you smarter.

No, but it will certainly help with spatial recognition if you're playing with talented players and are trying to learn from mistakes and plan rather than simply run-and-gun-and-rage(quit) lol. But you can say that about most other games, anyway so it isn't really that special XD
